What is with Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni??
« on: April 09, 2009, 03:56:46 PM »
Okay so I'm watching this and thinking it's basically over after the first 4 episodes and then it starts over again so I'm like OK. Anyway I really wanna know if I'm going to get an AHHHHHH! moment and suddenly the whole plot will make sense as this is very confusing. And for someone who didn't realise the guy was dead in The Sixth Sense till right at the end I may need all the help I can get  :o

It's had a lot of downloads and comments so I'm guessing it's a keeper but am I going to have to re-watch again it for it to make sense? (Just like I did with the Sixth Sense and realized no one was talking to him  :-[)

higurashi no naku kono ni (the first season)

it is quite confusing. . . just think about it as "different stories" . . .or "possible thingies"

its like something happens that leads ***** to become all paranoid and stuff. . .

once you finish it you watch the second season (higurashi no naku kono ni kai) there my friend they will connect every story and every thing that happened in the first season and you'll notice something
(click to show/hide)

and so you learn stuff. . .
tho still i was left with some questions about "the past" and "who is. . ."

OOh ok

Quick question should I watch the live action film after the second season or is it only about the first season?

Higurashi is one of the best anime series I've seen. One minute it's funny, and the next minute, you'll be screaming. Goge is right, Higu Kai will make the lightbulb come on, and you'll suddenly get everything.

OOh ok

I would say after, as you'll understand it a bit better. I really didn't like the live action, but it's merely a personal thing.

yea i didnt like the live action either, it didnt have any of the suspense or impact the series had at all, they should have made the caracters and settings alot creepier, i know the japanese have the skills to pull off something like that, they have managed to squise out a couple of creepy movies over the years, pluss i felt the movie was way more confussing then the series, and i had seen both seasons when i saw the live action, might have been bad subbing tho

Just finished ni and kai. You have to read the Wiki page for the anime and things will make a little more sense. Basically the entire first season is multiple question arcs as the second season is multiple answer arcs. Seriously though, watch kai and you will go "DOH!! I should have known that!" because everything will make perfect sense. It is a great series :D

You'll notice that the episode titles divide it into multiple arcs.  After the so-called "question arcs" come the "answer arcs", which are so named because you end up slightly less confused after watching them.  Interestingly enough, the answers come in reverse order to the questions.

I've just finished Ni, and haven't started Ni Kai yet, so whatever I just said may be completely invalid.

Things make much more sense in Kai. Although I have to say i'm not a big fan of higurashi. To me the first season for the most part seemed like pointless violence.

HOOOOWHAAAAAAA!!!!   :o
The violence and gore is what makes the series so great ;D . But seriously, even though the first season doesn't give any real answers it is still pretty deep and well thought out. I just HAD to watch the series after hearing my friend say he had to turn off his television at some point because the violence hit him so hard.

Though I never actually had to turn my television off at all I was cringing and pulling my hair at quite a few scenes. I was a little disappointed though that Kai did not have as much violence/gore.

First season is suppose to confuse the hell out of the viewer. That's its purpose. Second second breaks down WTF is going on and explains why things are happening they way they are. Why people act like that, the reasoning, the effects, the outcome, the sources and why it keeps repeating itself.

Is it worth it? HELL YEA MAN! HELL YEA!!!! It's Higurashi after all!

Rena and the maggots were pretty darn horrid to watch too.
