Eden of the East
« on: April 10, 2009, 07:24:17 AM »
Production I.G.'s other series this season has started! With character designs that we all know and love by Chika Umino of Honey and Clover fame.

gg did one of their speed releases (though they say it's only for episode one) and it's out now!

EDIT: Just finished watching it, and I think it may be the most enticing first ep of the season. I will say it now, I.G., Kenji Kamiyama and Kenji Kawai are gods amongst men.
The opening theme, by Oasis no less:

LOL!

Now this is how you localise anime for other regions. There is a glimmer of hope this season after all! \o/

Looks like I might have two series to follow. I was a bit skeptic based on the little bit of info given, but it was very good. Love the character designs.

Just looked it up... only 11 episodes? What's up with that? Seriously, there better be no filler at all for a series this short. It's rather disappointing, as this had the potential to be a solid 26+ ep series with a deep plot.

i tried to download gg's torrent and their tracker must be down or something.  i have 2 episodes of ippo new challenger to watch so that'll keep me busy in the meantime.

I expect an action and character driven plot with the movie as a big finale.

Suddenly I feel like identifying all the guns in the closet.

I don't advise downloading gg's version. They aren't actually picking up the series, you know.

I hope you're right. A movie to close out the series would be great. I'm really afraid they'll skimp on some of the plot points with the series being so short otherwise :(

Just watched Desire's version and I was in aww the entire time.

(click to show/hide)

I can tell this is going to be season worth archiving and "HOPES" that it stays just as good.

Sidenote
I noticed that Lunar is now subbing this show to? Personally I'm going to keep watching Desire's version because I hate changing up groups. Which subs are you all plan on keeping.

I'm gonna wait for Frostii, since gg did the first ep on a whim. Desire are not bad translation-wise, but their encode's compression ratio is a bit too high, making it blurry. ji-hi.net comparison proves it.

Haven't checked out Lunar's yet, and probably won't. Their filesize for the 720p is way higher than any other group (350 MB vs 240).

Unfortunately, Ji-hi hasn't updated with Lunar's release yet. But the link is here anyways. I think I'm probably going to stick with Desire.
