Hmm, ji-hi.net has been updated with Lunar's encode for comparison. I'm comparing gg's and Lunar's encodes. gg's seems to have a bit more zoom to it, and warmer (perhaps more unnatural) colours. I don't much like Lunar's font, either for the OP or the episode proper but that doesn't really matter, as we all know. Lunar's filesize is, as I mentioned earlier, much bigger than other releases (no idea why).

gg's TL/edit is, as one might expect, the most fluid (so far), though I believe they really did just do this on a whim and so shouldn't be counted on.

By the way, Desire's 720p encode is alright, but their 810p is definitely an upscale, with a corresponding decrease in detail. Their translation is also markedly different from the other groups who are compared at ji-hi.

Conclusion: I'll still wait for Frostii.

Lunar is an okay group. Their choice of font and typesetting style puts me off, though their translations are decent.

I think I'll end up getting Frostii too.

edit:
Come to think of it, I think that will be the first Frostii release I download O.o

I hope you're right. A movie to close out the series would be great. I'm really afraid they'll skimp on some of the plot points with the series being so short otherwise :(

Heheh, ok. That works for me. I'm excited now ;D

Now sudo's subbed episode 1 too. Slightly softer focus and lines vs Desire, no karaoke (<3). Subtitles in plain serif.

Deisre:

(ignore the white pixels)

sudo:

Overall better detail preservation on sudo's part, especially in the shadows. Not surprising considering sudo's is 36% larger than Desire's.

That's what I thought when I read this on koda's blog.

Not really going to sub it. Sure a billion others will release it before next week anyway.

Maybe gg will change their minds and sub it.

Now Lunar has an encode out too. I don't blame them [all groups working on this series], just watching it makes me wish I knew how to encode/time/TS/translate so I can contribute to a random fansubbing project, LOL. (Luckily I don't, and thus I get to keep my free time for doing other things)

I'll probably be archiving Frostii's, though. At least until Bluray is out...

I'm still going to give Lunar a shot. I watched there release and it was actually more satisfying then Desire's release. I'm still not sure if I want to convert over to them just yet. Only thing I didn't like was the font and the Kara for the ending. It was kinda big and out of place. A v2 should be produced hopefully  :-\

I'll just stick with Frostii. I had some Issues with shows subbed by Lunar in the past.

Personally after watching gg, Frostii, and Lunar, i'm going to stick with Frostii for the following 2 reasons.
A - they do some of the best work out there and the flow feels the best out of the 3.
B - if gg/qq does it, doesn't mean they will finish it, they have had a long tradition of dropping projects.
I have typed these words and you have been forced to read them.  Now you can go cry in the corner if you like :)

They already said they aren't picking up the project. They subbed the first episode for fun. Also, qq is a separate entity from gg. Don't associate the two together.

shinsen! shinsen picked up Eden of the East. Never thought they'd do that but Frostii's been decided to be my choice^^

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

You're really that excited about SHS picking up a series already covered by Frostii?  I mean, Shinsen's good and all, but they're not *great*, from my (rather limited) experience with them.

I preferred gg's editing. I guess I'll follow gg until koda gets bored and drops it.
