She: The Ultimate Weapon
« on: April 10, 2009, 09:59:57 PM »
I picked this anime up at HMV a little while ago, watched the tv series and then the movie.
At first I thought it was shockingly bad but it managed to turn me around a bit at the end and question what I really thought of it. It def could have been better and it is without a shadow of a doubt not the best anime out there.

Anyone else seen it?

Now, I must say, I didn't see the anime.
Manga, however, is one of the best I've read. And I've read a lot. If someone who is familiar with both could say if the anime is really much worse then manga, I'd be grateful. It is of course possible that someone read the manga and didn't like it; it's not the easiest read, after all.

If I can work out how I might see if I can upload the anime to here for those who haven't seen it.
It left me with a funny feeling, really wasn't sure if I liked it or not...

Love, love love love, underlined love this series. I just loooove this series so much. This is one of my very favorites. I've seen it twice .. and it was really good. I just love how they've done this anime. It's beautiful, love the animation, the colors and everything about it. There is also a Live Action if you haven't seen it and there is an OVA as well (was there more than one OVA?! ... I think 2 or 3). Yes, they did ignore the concept of "what the hell is going on? why are people fighting?" and they left holes that poured questions here and there. But for the matter of fact, people ... the series focused entirely on the two characters and HINCE the anime name is She: The Ultimate Weapon. The anime IS FOCUSED ON HER! And her lover, how they quarrel, love, give, miss each other and what not.

I'm gonna need to get this again. I don't think I have it in my computer.

Tatsujin you may be onto something there. I def agree that the development of their relationship is brilliant, maybe a bit more background story to what was going on would have made it better for me.

I also have the first OVA, where it focuses on the previous weapon a female military officer and her feelings as she is surpassed by girl (I forget her name)
Does the manga come from a different direction, if it does I think I would be very interested in reading it (it will be my first ever manga! :o)

You must think JAPANESE! We all must do that! Japanese will flop somewhere in one corner, but they certainly cover the other corners neatly, smoothly and sharply!

I also only knew it as Saikano :P

This series was an enigma to me. I hated nearly everything about the series. From the animation, to the character designs, to the plot... all horrible. Yet I still liked it, because it was an amazing love story. The shit those two went through was incredible. Certainly one of the more heart-wrenching series I've ever seen... and it gets major points for that.

If I can I will rip it and then upload it.Is there a tutorial about how to rip the dvd, otherwise you will be getting a DVDr release rather than an actual video file.
It would seem though that this might be worth a rewatch to decide if it is something I like or not.

You mean this anime?

http://www.boxtorrents.com/torrent/129780/Saishuuheiki_kanojo_(Saikano)_HQA-ANBU.html

However, if you can come up with a higher quality rip with decent subs... I don't see why you can't trying to get a higher quality version on boxtorrents.

I'll give getting it higher quality a go. I mean I have it on DVD so in theory I could get it in the highest quality possible. I've also got the OVA, which I don't think is up here.

yea i have to some what agree with you on this, i had a hard time coming past the animation style, the annoing caracters and the drama, arrghss the dramaaahhh, but at the same time i couldnt let it go, and some halfway thru i felt what i earlier saw as flaws melt togheter and create greatness, now when i look back at it, i really love the animation style they went for, it gives it a much more personal and heartwarming feel to it

This is one of the few animes I put on pause because it was too sad. Think I'll finish it now... :P Almost forgot about it. I only have a 2-3 eps left to go anyhow.

Kaguya Houraisan.
from touho project, games.

I'm gonna find her picture now and put that name in there so I don't forget.

Edit -- And you are in luck! I found the games for Touhou. Let me know if you want it, just PM me. There's a total of 7 different games. They're overhead view shooters and she's probably in one of those games (or couple). Touhou is a free-lance game designers/producers. They do games as their hobby (I believe).

Edit 2 -- Found a really interesting song with a whole bunch of characters from Touhou! --> http://moe.imouto.org/post/show/24455/aki_minoriko-aki_shizuha-alice_margatroid-chibi-ci <-- Enjoy!
