Wel ll have to sy something like, WOW.
this guy sux, l mean really, fucking insensitive bastard asshole, in case spoilers will not come back soon enough l'll use white font from here :

the momment l learned she became the weapon l just tought why you guys made it sound so sad, after a while she "malfunctions" and can't return to her normal body anymore, l think that was the trigger to uncontrollable power growth, l aggre with previous posters that otehr nations became desperate and just threw everything they had at her to get Japan, but l think ppl are wrong about the seriously bad ending after ep 10, to me it's still somewhat maybe not a good ending but very deep about the two of them,

Humanity triggered the "Self-Destruct Button" by making her the way she became, the military relied on her way too much, making her deal with what trained troops should be able to handle, l know quite a bit about Japanese Military from the past and l never heard of such weak military disposition, in this anime Japanese soldiers are seen as extremely weak, wich l don't like at all, secondary, l like the way he takes care of her after they eloped, he seems very dedicated to her, but in the end he has no choice but to give her away, if he didn't it might have ended differently, he didn't notice this but he was the only person who actualy made her hold grip over her power,

and in the end he was the only one she cared after, his feeling gotten her to act up, she sealed her emotions and memories but his feelings brought her back, l'm glad they finaly could make out, whats more comforting, he sealed himself off in his heart with her alone the time she simply destroyed mankind and left him alive, to me as long as he lived they were together in his heart, living normally for once, she would die with him then, altough a bit sad ending it was also a happy end,

mankind got what they deserved, in their attempt to get a hold of the last habitable place, they destroyed it as well, proof that mankind isn't ready for anything at all, playing god by making an ultimate weapon they had no choice but to choose an unstable emotionally girl, that was the only way they could controll the weapon itself, but finaly the weapon turned on them, as the deserved.

Final Note :

This anime should be made a warning for future generations, this is what happend when you start a war, and someone plays god.

Final Scores:
Art 5.6
Sound 6
Music 6.3
Story A 5.1 (untill EP10)
Story B 5.7 (Overall)
Character Development and history 4.6

TOTAL SCORE 5.7

Char dev was low cuz there wasn't enough info in anime, maybe in mange there is, but this scoring is for anime.

Don't take my low scores too personally, l'm very strict, my Score Table has 11 points, there are only a handful lanime titles that scored higher than 7, and none that reached 10, only one reached 9, l'm very strict.

l tought that this anime would end terribly, so l took Hayate with me to watch eventually but maybe because l expected something really bad l could be calm, l still think that the warning is an overexagoration, the last eps wasnt bad at all. There was happiness, there was also destruction, but nothing more than before ep 10, sad things happened, but those are times of war, if you watch this anime without remembering what goes on in there, you will tear up like hell, make a correction and yo ucan understand it all.

Generally, l liked the art style, not the very good like in some other titles but it fitts this story perfectly.

l cried more in Kanon 2006 when Makoto dissapeared while in Yuichis arms, after that every mention of Makoto made me cry a bit, l don't remember a sadder story than that, it was much sadder than the one in original kanon. and comparably sadder than DaCapo 2 Second Season story.

when she finaly decided to disable the tree making him eventually dissapear from memory, the struggle she had to remember him, and the desperation she kept was very sad, l wouldn't accept any other ending.

does anyone other than myself have a problem with the title the "professional" translators gave this?

doesn't "Saishuheiki Kanojo" = "My Girlfriend, The Ultimate Weapon"?

Kanojo = She
Saishuheiki = Ultimate weapon

not that it's own AniDB page would be proof of anything other than the producers preferring "She", IF AniDB even showed an English Official Title (Synonym is not an official preference).  But I should have looked around the web better.
it seems both could be right, going by other titles and sites.

Read the earlier posts in the thread, there's a fair amount of discussion on the title. The North American release used "SaiKano," while the UK release did use "She, the Ultimate Weapon."

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

Random sort of on topic note,

A buddy of mine made this free handy dandy dictionary/translator. It even does romanji to Hiragana/Kanji/english and vice versa. I know a lot of online translators do not do romanji, so this might be of some help to those learning or needing a quick translation of specific words:

(Nihongodict uses the EDICT file. EDICT file is the property of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group at Monash University.)

Seen this anime a while back. It's a beautiful story, even if it takes a lot of time to set up. The ending was great and incredibly touching. The character development certainly is interesting, too.

And, this anime teaches you one thing about wars involving super weapons:

I love this series so much i went and bought the manga... and trust me i don't buy manga often especially when you find that the last volume is discontinued =.='... But viz media was kind enough to send the poor die-hard fan the last copy in their warehouse ^^ very grateful to them. To be honest, i didn't like the live action it just ruined the story imo.

Character dev - maybe not a lot but it focuses more on the character-character interactions with each other.
Story - The adolescent love theme really hit me, like the complications of relationships and uncertainty of relations etc. The display of mental breakdowns and etc. of characters really bought reality back into play and I really enjoy like what many people said before me, the "reality reference" and some may refer it to as personal experience even of breaking up or losing someone.
Art - Towards the childish side in some scenes, but very nice, able to create a laugh in most places, to ease up the tension.

I enjoyed the manga more than the anime, so I wouldn't really comment on the music etc. cause I can't remember and the manga is just on my shelf :>.

Thats enough blabbering by me...But I do respect people's opinions, just expressing my own on this wonderful story I fell in love with.

Has anyone read the author note at the end of the manga in volume 7?

Since I never read the manga, I could not know but I'm curious. I'm sure I would not be alone.

Could you type it down for us to read?

I watch the OVA well not as sad as the TV series so you could judge than... but better visual though ^^

taking place while in between the TV series.

and the main char was not the modified girl but another girl (woman) a commander or captain if my memory served me right ^^

@havoc how about the other makoto that need to be despise by majority ^^ (school days)

The guy inside Saikano is not an adult, he's a teenager. If one of you says "that's not an excuse" then recall your memories when you were a teenager and tell us how many times you fucked up in life. Adults are different than teenagers. He didn't know how to handle most situations, same blame goes to the girl (Chisae was her name?). Either way, this is one of my favorite anime series. <3 Seen it a long time ago, my favorite part was the bed part ... the blood ... it was so ... disgusting.
