Minami-ke Series
« on: April 12, 2009, 12:18:24 AM »
Finished the first two seasons, and they were SUPERB! ..... I'm on S3 right now, and episode 10 ... with Toume's brother asking the three sisters to talk to her so she can come home early (to her brothers). He was soooo freaking funny, this is like epic of all epic episodes.

So far, each episode was 10+ enjoyment level on my end. I haven't had a fill in episode, as each one had its own unique path and distinguished itself from the previous episodes. I like the love polygons that's going on between the characters. It's nothing like cliff hangers as School Rumble, more of comedy and slice of life put together. Chiaki and Fujioka are just soooooooooooooooooo cute; I don't know how to put it into words. But taking Chiake's personality into account, with her half-sleepy eyes, short temper, grumpy attitude and cute appearance it does kinda affect the viewer when she smiles and wants to keep Fujioka to her self and drags him around and sits in between his legs ... man that's just raw.

So yea, I'm gonna go back and finish up S3. Really great slice of life series <3

Edit -- Forgot to mention for Season 3, I stopped watching Chihiro's releases on episode 5 and quickly switched to Nekomimi. Advantages were its in 720p, better quality, encoding, timing, translation and I somewhat like the Karaoke better in there, too (yes, I watch the Karaoke from start to finish!). The downside is Nekomimi had 1 to 0 typos per episode, so far a total of 4 or 5 typos from episode 6 to episode 10.

I dunno about S3, I think S1+S2 were better than 3, maybe it was the completely horrendous animation that put me off (with the weirded eyes and such). When I think of Minami-ke, I always go back to S1+S2 random parts that I found funny, as for S3 I don't recall much.

I have only watched season three, but I didn't find it hard to follow at all. And that episode you described was a very good one. Lots of funny/cute moments in this series.

Watch season 1 and 2! I really can't say which season is better than the other, because I enjoyed all of them! Season 1 will give you a better vision of the anime. The animation, sound and character design was done by a different (and better) company.

I was like that too. I played WoW for more than 2 years, and I was watching anime as well! It was hard to keep up. I couldn't make time. I earned alot of respect on the server I am on and I was one of the best tanks on the server. My guild dropped their jaws when they saw my freaking UI (User Interface) and how I play my warrior; and it's a she, night elf. Ah!!! Brings back memories! Anyways, I quit the game twice and I had so much free time with anime and stuff, I got dragged back because they needed me back; there's hardly any smart players as tanks on the servers, and I felt like coming back. I quit about 3 months ago and ... well, I quit for good! I still have to tell the guild that, they're keeping me as an officer and hoping for me to come back.

My time now is fixed on Anime, web designing, learning Japanese and doing other daily chores with the family. I didn't do much for more than a year ever since I played WoW ... so yea.

But yea, if you ever feel like watching Slice of Life with Comedy ... you have to watch those two seasons! Tatsujin implements his utmost feelings on them! >_<

With that kind of recommendation, I can't refuse ^_^
I have several friends who play WoW, and I call it a soul sucking game, as they barely talk to anyone anymore, they just play WoW.
Getting episodes 1&2 right now.

With what I am already getting on torrent, and my small HD, I am getting the two episodes first.
Don't worry I will get the rest.

You know, I found this series by clicking the "Random" button ("Hmmm, has cute girls...comedy...sc hool life...looks good." *downloads*) and I have to say it's definitely one of my favorites.  Personally, I thought the second season was the best, although they are all worth watching. The third season wasn't nearly as funny, but it had its moments. If you have NOT seen this series, go see it NAOW. You won't regret it.

I <3 Chiaki too. You just can't help it. I swear it's the "cream puff" in her hair. I missed the fact that she didn't flick it around in season 3...

S1 IS awesome!! Hosaka's laugh is what brings me about.
S2 IS beautiful!! I enjoyed the new style.
S3 WAS/AND STILL IS a let down, the animation quality just threw me off.

Agreed, it was just too off putting to keep the enjoyment levels up, here are some links to just how awful it was.

Where did it go?

Ah! The drawing and animation! Yes, yes! I totally agree with you guys on that one. I thought it was ridiculous as well. S2 was slightly better. S1 beats both of them. But I do agree on those parts.

The huge drop in quality is one of the reasons why Ayu is probably not going to do S3.

I had the same sentiments of S1+S2 > S3. But I think something else lacked in S3, and its not animation. No matter how crap the animation is, as long as the scenes are still entertaining, it will be okay for me. Uh, and the 3rd season failed for that. Yes, some scenes were rather enjoyable, but the "magic" (yeah, hard to explain actually) that the previous seasons gave me is somewhat gone.
