I look at the intro/outro on youtube, if it appeals, I watch. If not, I don't.
-shrug- Sue me, but it works fine for me. =P

Same here. I just hangout in the forums to have some feed back. Then I check out trailers or sometimes amvs on youtube.
I just use anidb for fansub ratings.

From what I've seen, the general anime watchers like mindless action with no plot, horribly overdone melodrama and boring slice of life (not the "good" slice of life).
I think a big part of it is due to mob mentality though. People need to learn to think for themselves and not just follow what others think are the best.

I think you just described every 12 year old Naruto and Dragonball fan I've ever known.
Sosseres:
I use AniDB, categories for older anime and its calendar to check images/description/categories of newer animes.
Xanthic:
I don't really care what other people rate shows because their opinions don't matter. I use AniDB just to keep track of what I've watched and what I've thought about each one. I've seen enough anime to know which shows I'll probably like and which ones I won't. That and for the calender function to see what comes out and the sub group ratings/comments to choose which sub to go with.
