Black Lagoon (you already know)
« on: April 16, 2009, 12:24:43 PM »
well i just finished watching all of black lagoon this foggy april morning and i enjoyed the show! A LOT!

It was great all the way down to the last episode! i just wish they prolonged it better! i heard there will be a 3rd season but thats still years between each season! I felt like there wasn't enough story arcs! as soon as it hit The "Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise" arc i was like "damn its gonna end with them still in
(click to show/hide)
"    they movie references were great! the "random" jap/english was great! only 2 things i would change is the length of the series, there was so many things they tell you in the 2nd season but they only really touch on 1 er 2. the 2nd thing i would change is the Revy and Rock relationship development, It was dry the whole time! i was thinkin "damn is she gonna let him hit?" "is he even gonna TRY to hit?!" i mean it seems like the main character becomes to lost in his confusion about life.

i recommend this show to any one! especially the 1st to early 2nd season! it seems like it changed drastically to better accommodate japanese viewers towards the end. since the first season seems like something that would appeal more to a western audience.
tatsujin thx!!( for nothin! ) thanks Sebur for the SIG!

I totally disagree with you here. You can't expect a slice of life or romance lover, for example, to enjoy watching Black Lagoon. Violence has a very strong presence in each episode, same goes for gore and sexual content.

Hey, I'm a slice of life lover and I loved Black Lagoon as well ;D Seriously, good show will be a good show, no matter who will see it.
Anyway, I thought Black Lagoon was just a good action series... Until Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise. That arc, especially the ending was great. But that may be partly thanks to Yukio Washimine being one the best characters I've seen in anime. I don't even like tragedy or mafia/yakuza stories that much, but I loved that one... Even if it left me feeling a bit down.
Also, manga! If you liked the anime then read the manga, it's quite good.

Well, I did wrote " , for example, " there. I'll consider you an exception Erious.^^
But hey, I'm a slice of life lover 2, but I didn't enjoy watching either of the seasons. Too much violence, nudity and gore.

There was no nudity or gore.

There was that brief pole dancer shot, and a few pretty sexual conversations. As for gore, people getting chainsawed is a little gory. Just a little. Not to mention kids getting headshot.

That hardly counts <__<

The nudity was... well, OK, not that I remember a particular scene, I'll admit there was a little nudity.

As for gore... I define that as actual guts spilling out, etc., not just a bit of blood spray.

Well, by that definition, I don't think I've ever seen a gory anime, or movie for that matter.

I still think Black Lagoon was good, and I was willing to overlook the mature elements because of that.

shigurui = gore infested
the beginning of elfen lied has a lot of gore and certain parts of it have lots of gore.
Gantz = filled with gore

There is a difference between gore and violence though

Yep watch Gantz if you want to see something that is fucked up. I loved it and forced my friends to watch it also and he liked to. Granted that the starting out everything is so freaking gory and so much hate. Well hate kind of continues throughout the anime. But be warned it never really got completed so read the manga if you want the whole story.

Umm, and what would "the right way" be?
Also, you're aware that it's based on an ongoing manga, and that there's a third season in the works, right?

I see, guess that's my fault for not reading up on it.

wish there was a damn 3rd season of gantz!

black lagoon should get its own movie or set of movies.
maybe some that explain the back story of its characters more.
