I just finished the first 12 episodes, and I'm completely baffled by the all the praise. 6 out of 10 would be my rating.
50% of the time it's trying too hard to be funny, badass or serious, which turns me off tremendously.
Also, the show focuses so much on firearms, yet all the guns sounded like toys. Seriously, did they lift it straight off some lame fps?
All you have to do is study it out. Just study it out.

If you're looking for character depth, watch the 2nd season. Seems it focuses more on that.

Actually no. I'm perfectly fine with brainless actions, but not with pretending to be some gun-wielding philosophers/comedians/jackasses.

Cool. If you're looking for completely brainless action, then DBZ, transformers or power rangers might suit your tastes better.

Actually no. "I'm perfectly fine with" doesn't mean "I'm looking for".

Black Lagoon was awesome. It made me want to be a pirate.

Honestly, I could never figure out why people didn't like the series. I liked the feeling that it gave me when I watched it. It might also be that I like senseless violence... hard to say.

If you haven't seen it; watch it (now).

Love Black lagoon and I'm super exited about a 3rd season. It falls in as #2 in my list of new seasons I'm exited about. right under Haruhi

Hey Guys I know if any of you are like me you have been waiting on this well...

ANN has Just Posted that
Quote from: ANN
The August issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday GX magazine will confirm on Saturday that the third Black Lagoon anime project will be an original video anime (OVA) project in 2010. Director Sunao Katabuchi will return from the first two Black Lagoon anime projects, along with character designer Masanori Shino and the Madhouse anime studio. Megumi Toyoguchi will reprise her role as the female pirate Revy.

So i was hoping for 13 more episodes.  But it is nice to know that there will atleast be a few OVA"s coming out next year!

I agree with you there.  But i look at it this way, at least we are getting something, and we have some more Revy, which is always a good thing!

Well, I hope the OVAs turn out OK. Even if you get the same people, an OVA can get messed up easily if you rush it or throw in the wrong stuff.

I'm curious as to what material this will be based on. IIRC the second season included the latest completed arcs, and while I havn't followed the manga for some time, the current arc is massive and would probably not fit in an OVA. T'is a great series though, so hopefully it'll turn out well.

The 7th chapter I believe is set for release next month. (August.) The OVA's won't be here till 2010. So I think there's quite a bit they could cover.

Also, I don't think there are any restrictions as to classifying OVA's... I've seen them range from 1 ~ 12 episodes in length and From 2 minutes ~ 53 minutes also in length.

Is everybody also aware that ANN. Edited that post and stated that seasons 1 ~ 2 will be coming out on Blu-Ray ? Good news, yes ?
Insert witty quote here.

Black Lagoon was so-so to me too... it´s just not really my type, I watched cause some Revi fanboys did a lot of lobby in MAL.

It was alright, there´s just one thing that pisses me off in this type of show is how the bullets just "never" hit the "heroes" or just make a scratch...geez, they run in the middle of twenty guys shooting and none of them can aims right... so revi shoot two times and five bad guys drop dead....

its because they move around a lot (well at least revy does) and in actuality its hard to hit very quick moving targets.
plus i mean
(click to show/hide)
she takes damage. the rest of the team doesn't because there not out there shooting as much.

it´s make difficult to hit her cause she is quick? true, but in the middle of a gunfire... not a decent shoter in the other side...not a stray bullet... only she ´s good enough to hit quick targets... it´s kinda remember me Noir and invecible Kirika.

Nothing this turns the serie in bad thing, of course it will be no fun to have the heroine die in the fist episode, it just annoys me, seems like things are too easy  :(.

Ahh, You were talking about Black Lagoon. Thought your comment was related to Gantz :P

wish there was a damn 3rd season of gantz!

black lagoon should get its own movie or set of movies.
maybe some that explain the back story of its characters more.

Agreed on the gantz part. People might not like it... but you have to admit the style of gantz is quite intriguing.

Black lagoon romance is a little iffy. Revy might rip rock another pooper if he doesn't toughen up fast...
