Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn
« on: April 22, 2009, 07:10:00 PM »
I downloaded it and put it on the backburner due to my fear of starting a 73+ episode anime.  Then I finally get the courage to start watching it, only to realize it isn't the anime I thought it was (none of the characters look familiar, and there even seems to be some DBZish character in it).

So now I'm wondering if it is worth the watch... opinions?

It started pretty good but for me it got pretty weird as it got near the 100eps.

It "Was" good, but I've dropped the show completely. As time goes on the storyline becomes so ridiculous and the fight scences

become retarded. On top of that there are no consistent groups subbing it so the show is dead to me now.

So Wikipedia used to show Season 5 as being 102-158. But now it says 102-140? And Season 6 starts at 141-160? (current)

I'm looking for someone who can confirm this. Wiki being editable by regular people doesn't help its credibility.

EDIT: Wikia says, in terms of story arcs rather than Seasons, 142-153 which known as the Arcobaleno Trials Arc.

Yeah. I was wondering why Arcobaleno Trials was still part of the same season.

As for the show overall. Personally I love the ideas and stories it has. It gets a little far out in some situations but overall I think it makes a nice plot. I think the emphasis of the story turns at about ep 19 (End of Daily Life Arc). Before then its all laughs and games. From then on it seems to take a more serious undertone reining in a lot of the comedy saving it for filler eps which are all bundled at the end of the main seasons (66-73). However the filler eps are all stories that were littered through the manga so.

I've bin watching the rest of the series on Crunchyroll -____- I really had no choice seeing how no sub groups stay consistent with there releases. The subs aren't as bad as I've read on forums. I just wish they would sub OP/ED songs. On a good note Hitman reborn is finally starting to get back on track again. It just feels like every episode is really short.

Thats probably because they have a bad case of what I call, 'Bleach Syndrome', where they believe that they must repeat at least half of the current story arc because you forgot all the story up till then meaning that the actual amount of progression in the storyline is decreased dramatically. Thats probably one of the few things that annoys me about the show.

P.S. I know other anime have done the whole massive recap thing before Bleach but it is the one that comes to my mind first when I think about it.

Wikia doesn't say anything about Choice Arc being in the manga. Enzedder, how far has the anime gotten behind the manga?

Wiki is slightly wrong regarding manga.

Ep 101 is equal to ch 174. Wiki says that Future arc includes eps 74-141 and ch 136-174 meaning they have stuffed up combining 2 anime seasons and not combining the manga chapters with it.

Arcobaleno Trials Arc was a filler so they should be alittle behind. I imagine they will be able to continue to the end of the Choice Arc now without problem.

In the manga the Choice Battles begin at ch 232 and at the moment ch 266 was released last Thursday. That gives you a reasonable idea where they are.

Oh, so Choice Arc is manga material? Exciting. I wanna start this anime, but several other series have to be finished first and the episode number is almost equal to Inuyasha's first series. Is the fillers worth something in Hitman? And which episodes are fillers?

I believe the main fillers are 27-33 and 66-73. However I would suggest watching 28, 31 and 70 as they contain little characters that will help with the later story. I watched all the 27-33 fillers and only fast forwarded through the 66-73 fillers

Also the Trials arc is a filler however in watching it you learn more about the Arcobalenos so I would suggest watching it.

I am not up to date with the anime so I am not sure of any fillers than that up to the current. I doubt it though if the Trials arc was a filler. They usually save all the fillers to the end of a main story arc which is nice.

I think I'll just watch all of them, they seem to tolerable since you didn't mention anything like: "I fucking cried while watching them and cursed at God" or something like that. Though if you did, I'd question the very reason why you were watching them in the first place.

In case you're interested, I was able to get most of the manga at #lurk today, though my bad navigation skills on the new laptop made me post xdcc in the channel and as a result, I was kicked out and unable to re-join. I need to remember to bring my "mouse" along. I hope it's only temporary.

The latest arc, Melone Base Invasion Arc, started at c219 so I'll upload up to c218.

The fillers aren't bad. They are the releases of the stupid humour that was in the first 19 eps like tests of courage and teaching to swim. I liked them because you saw more of how they knew and understood each other and how they acted and were by themselves.

Lol. I haven't downloaded any of the manga yet. I usually read them online but I have been looking into downloading them soon so that would be awesome.

I've started to watch it now, I just finished episode 6. The comedy is all right, but the main motivation for watching this anime is "how" good it'll be once those 20 episodes clear up. 9 out of 10 people says the same thing, that it'll be awesome after 20 episodes. I've been thinking about one thing; was Daily Life Arc supposed to be longer? Did AMANO Akira originally intend for Hitman to be like this? To have characters introduced like this, and then change the content so drastically. Also, there's not a sense of logical fighting so far, far from Bleach and Naruto standards, especially after seeing Shippuuden 143 this week. I lol'ed at Hibari fighting Goku and Takeshi in episode 4, was it?

EDIT: I'm on episode 19 now, next episode will be interesting. I hope the content will be satisfied actionable. These 19 episodes have been very hard to watch. I travelled by train this weekend, and saw some episodes. My little brother was watching this thriller, and I was watching this. :D I'll edit this once I finish the Kokuyo Arc.

EDIT2: It seems like a lot of stuff from the manga hasn't been used for the anime, mainly talking about stuff from the Daily Life arc....maybe that was a good idea.

EDIT3: I have to ask, where the anime is now, does Yamamoto Takeshi still think everything is a game? :-\

EDIT4: Oh God, they've censored Hitman. On Animesuki there was a lot of people complaining about that when the anime began to air in 2006. Now I'll definitely read the manga.

EDIT5: I went from the end of the Kokuyo Arc, and started to read the manga from there, Oh God, it's so much better. I'm now on chapter 94. I think I'll just read it to the latest chapter, and then watch the anime if I feel like it, although the anime seems to be censored, it has strong points. Even though the manga is better overall, it's still interesting to see something you've read get adapted into moving pictures.

Some people on Animesuki was exited over Artland doing this anime, I honestly can't seem to share their excitement.

Yes Hitman Reborn was censored abit. Basically its just less blood and removed Gokudera's smokes because a 15 year old chain smoker isn't something they want to portray to the kiddies.

The in manga there are extra stories. Stories that are like fillers or bonus stuff. The anime takes these stories and bundles them up and shows them in batch lots. Hence the reason there are 2 sets of fillers 27-33 and 66-73.

EDIT3: I have to ask, where the anime is now, does Yamamoto Takeshi still think everything is a game? :-\
Its hard to say. Future Yamamoto takes it seriously so he changes somewhere. I think Yamamoto changes about halfway through the future arc...

The manga is good. However I much prefer anime. I find its alot easier to empathize with the characters. Thats just me though.

I notice a couple other groups have the epps subed but no real ratings or anything on them. The 2 i noticed at a glance were AL-TTZ and animeload

wondering which i should snag for the rest that are translated so far since horrible subs is.. well horrible, lol.

Go with HorribleSubs. They're consistent with their CR rips. But you don't really need to do it since I'll be swapping the torrent as soon as there is an opening.

Depends on how long it takes you to watch 153 episodes...

It isn't worth the watch, i can tell just by looking at it. It will be another Bleach nightmare where the characters are stuck in an endless loop of filler. I kind of thank D.gray.man for outright canceling its run before it completely hit this point.
