Death Note
« on: April 30, 2009, 09:10:10 PM »
was really good. everything was good! the story, the soundtrack, the characters and their development. Only thing i wish hadn't happened was

Light wouldnt have been such a bastard either if he simply treated the women that worshiped him better.  Still a good ass show though. Also

Overall a very good show with quite a few highlights.

lol what I really liked about the anime is when I thought just how they couldn't really do the same in the live-action.

The over dramatized writing in the death note pad, with all its *swoosh* *scribble*

I thought the ending made perfect sense, since

I disliked Mello quite a bit, mostly because his hair's retarded, and he takes effort to bit uneven pieces out of pre-blocked chocolate.

Ryuk's voice actor is much better in the English version, and Misa's slightly less annoying.  Other than that, meh.

Yeah, I have to admit, L was the driving antagonistic force on the show.  Near was just...I disliked him.  Is there anyone who watched the anime and liked Near that can defend his existence?   ???

Near was... awesome.  He plays with toys that are metaphors for the situation at hand.

I think Near is too similar to L to be that interesting. The differences are fairly minor, so he comes off as almost an identical surrogate. Except he's less interesting because we just spent the entire show up until that point with L. His role in the story feels almost entirely like a sort of universal karmic justice, which does nothing but undermine what caused him to be created in the first place. His significance is so tied to L that he can't really stand alone. He exists only because L exists.

I hated near and mellow.
at the start of the show I wasn't sure if I was routing for light of L. first half of the show was brilliant.

and that's my 2 cents rant....  I could have gone on, but thinking back on it, it really grinds my gears... (thanks Family Guy)

yeesh i started this thread and didnt even throw my opinion out there!
I liked the end! i also liked mellow (not for his appearance but for his character!) since he was the exact oposite of L but had the same ideals where as near is just a clone and not as good as the original!

i also agree with the post above this one about
(click to show/hide)
also i didnt like light all that much...simply because he treated the women who worshiped him poorly.. and he had a god complex trying to change the world as he saw fit making him not a god but just a genius with a god complex he isn't much different from a mad scientist trying to take over the world.
he couldve beat
(click to show/hide)
L shouldn't have
(click to show/hide)
he was easily the coolest person in the show.
tatsujin thx!!( for nothin! ) thanks Sebur for the SIG!

Light WAS psychotic. Anyone with a God-complex often is. And that's what made him so awesome. L was cool, and Near was mostly obnoxious.

For my part, I thought the manga was better. For starters, it explained everything really well. It's more difficult to follow a lot of the anime if you don't have a background on what's going on. The anime is still worth watching, but it is better for comprehension if you read the manga first.

Also, go see the Death Note movie when it comes to theaters this week! It's going to be awesome to have a chance to see it on the big screen.

Is it one of the Japanese live-actions?  I haven't found one yet I've liked.

It's actually not bad. It's a decent companion to the anime. You should see the first one first, though.
