After finishing watching it I'm just alittle puzzled at one of the ending sentences, does anyone get what would have been said next after this scene?

First Top o Nerae 1/Gunbuster, then Top o Nerae 2/Diebuster, pretty self-explanatory. You don't have to watch the movies.
Gunbuster was really good, but Diebuster...
is freakin' awesome
I watched first two eps yesterday, and then took a break, because it would be a shame to finish it so quickly.

as Erious mentioned it is self explanatory, you should really know when they make movies they tend to just be quick short summary recaps of the episodes, so if you got the time always stick with the long episodes to get most of the story, if you want to breeze through it then just watch the movies.

It was like the clannad movie, everything just happened in an instant without much explanation D:

It's after Nono gives Lal'C her singularity

Or was it just a simple thing like, "I'll give you my singularity" (which in essence is really the busters heart) "because..." next sentence would have been "I love you"?

I'm also wondering just how did earth know about busters #1 #2 were coming back and that they were busters, I mean I don't think they had records that far back (over 10,000 years ago back in Noriko's time). lol and on a realistic view, I'm pretty sure the pilots of the floating buster remains would have died if you put the 10,000 years back in Noriko's real time, without food :p

Why wouldnt they have records, what the girls in the first gunbuster did was fight a war against aliens to save humanity, they were heroes, and why would it be so weird that people that could build a gravity bomb and travel through space keeping detailed records of the 2 women who were their heroes and being able to calculate when they were coming back.

Althought on a completely seperate note their bodies would be useless, after all those years in space their bone density and muscle mass would be soooooooooooooo low unless they had some sort of artificial gravity in place

Good point...but then again if they had records that far back, why didn't they have the details on the first generation buster defence thingies! lol the contradictions

werent the gunbuster units special in that they couldnt be mass manufactured which is why there was 2 that made 1 bigger robot and buster 3 the gravity bomb

now granted they probably had spare parts and blueprints which for some reason they opted not to keep which is slightly understandable. As sometimes keeping a small peice of information such as blueprints for robots around might not be as important to the entire world(you know the ones who got saved) as the story and knowledge of the 2 heroines.

But in the same regard the fact that they knew they were alive and had a welcome home party for them would kinda lean towards the just being a dumb detail that was overlooked. Its been a while since i watched the 2 series so i dont remember what was so special about the gunbuster units, i think in the second one they basically explained it as like the units were like alive didnt they?

Damn, you people worry about useless stuff. This series has already so much ridiculous shit that few not-completely-logical things honestly don't matter.

Anyway, since I just completed it: It's freaking awesome. one of the top ten best anime I've seen, easily. I don't get why it's relatively unpopular, comparing it with, say, vastly inferior TTGL. Maybe not the best Gainax series(that would be FLCL, but I consider FLCL to be the second best anime I've ever seen, so YMMV), but I think it's way better then TTGL, and probably better then NGE as well.
Seriously, if anyone haven't seen Diebuster yet, GO WATCH IT, NOW.(or rather, watch Gunbuster first, and then this)

^ erious! Welcome to the fold! I was also just introduced to this anime a little earlier this year (and only a little while after watching TTGL with my local anime club) and was blown away by how much better it is that that overblown pile of junk.
This is (and probably will be) the best Gainax anime for some time to come. I can only hope for more, but I'll be satisfied if they just lay it to rest unlike their other cash cows.

FLCL I thought was more awesome because it was a collab between Gainax and I.G. (at least in the animation dept.). Still had the wacked out Gainax plot though.

TTGL (editah Toppa Tengen Gurrenn Laggann) YMMV? What?

lol the small little details are what make the song kinda odd i.e. if they knew about #1#2 why not #7, etc. Nono was such a great character, the typical innocent klutz. Also Lal'c from Gunbuster2 has a similiar look to Kitsurubami from FLCL

YMMV is IMO (*g*) an abbreviation as useless as TIMTOWTDI (There's more than one way to do it) = your mileage may vary

haha, me too, I tend to only pick up new titles that appear on Box, good ol BoxTorrents acting as torrent news for me.

This should be in the Anime Discussion thread.

Gunbuster and FLCL are by the same studio (Gainax) who also made Evangelion and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I feel Gunbuster and FLCL are better than the longer series though.

I haven't watched Gunbusters yet but may bet coerced into downloading it now. Just need to free up space on my HDD. Mass burning will commence.
