Small problem with my S9: it can't read some tags. For FLAC files, it reads them perfectly, but for some mp3 files, all the data shows up as 'Unknown'.
Also, it would be great if this thing could read 'Composer' tags. Would save me having to shift all the data into the 'Artist' field.

I think it can read them, just that the information is in the wrong area for the properties box or w/e. I have a few songs like that myself.

it reads the tags it just sometimes switches tag fields on flac files. I have some flac files that worked just fine. Its just on some files i have all my tag info is there but all fucked up.

Like it will be under unknown artist but then display all of it in different fields.

Sadly computers > mp3 players at reading file tags

In my case, when I'm actually looking at the file details, all the field appear unknown in 'now playing' details.

hook up your player view it using something like winamp or one of the 8 million other players that let you edit tag info  of files while its connected.

And see if its there or update like that.

I can see the tags with mp3tag, and I can edit them fine. I dunno why the player can't...

Sorry. what I meant to say is, that there are certain areas that store information on an mp3 in let's say "mp3 properties". This includes, file name, display name, artist, album etc. Some files switch out the order and try displaying the file name but screw up or something because the other input areas are empty or seen as. I don't know how to explain it except older displays on computers where it pushes images off the monitor and you can't see it. Same here. Somehow the information "shifts" off the display area or forces the fields to display as nothing.

Frik I don't know how to explain it..

So basically... it's like this:

Somehow there's a conflict via the OS vs whatever tagging program you're using. Or maybe it's fucked up database information... who knows. But you might get crap like this which might not display correctly in the S9 or it might not exist at all.

I always use the last one if there are no non-Latin characters.

All you have to do is study it out. Just study it out.

I use UTF-8...
2.4 is not widely supported.
You should try 2.3 UTF-16.

I only use ISO8859-1 because I don't save tags in Japanese characters.
All you have to do is study it out. Just study it out.

Actually, I meant more on the lines that sometimes the tagger software and the OS doesn't match for some odd reason. (Possibly due to the write support as mentioned. )

Tried switching the tag format. Still doesn't work.

Did you cut and paste the tags, i.e. rewrite tags in new format? that setting does not affects existing files.

Used mp3tag, highlighted the mp3s and pressed 'save'. It rewrites all the tags when you do that (and I checked it, too).

Those guys have a lesser problem to me; only their artists tags don't show up. None of my mp3 tags show up at all.
