What really got you into anime?
jwiskaz:
Hey everyone, this was jus a question i was thinking about while waiting for my download to finish but does anyone really remember what got them into anime in the first place, i mean why anime instead of the gay american morning cartoons like scooby do or the powerpuff girls, i remember for me it was Dragon Ball Z and Yu Yu Hakashu on the AZN network befor they were released in america (yah like 6 years old and trying to read subs lol) but what did it for you?
Steve Basnof:
I watched Spirited Away in 6th grade and was intrigued by all of the Japanese themes in it. Before then it was just DBZ and Sailor Moon on Toonami, but once I saw Spirited Away I started to look for other anime besides what I was seeing in Cartoon Network.
jwiskaz:
God i remember Toonami, it was the most amazing thing on Cartoonnetwork when i was younger, them they replaced it with that gay magoozie and only brought it back saturday night a few months later and nows its gone altogether, makes me kinda sad, that was part of my childhood lolz
*Tear* :-[

What REALLY got me into anime would probably be just random animes I saw on T.V. when I was younger.
The two that really spring into my mind were Gundam Wing and Armitage (I think it was on the sci fi channel at like, 1:00 a.m. or something like that).

Original Toonaime With Moltar as the host. I use to hope i would get home earily enough from school in order to catch a lot of shows back then.
And those who don't know of the orginal Toonaime. It distorys the new version and Adult Swim by miles.
original line-up in 1998 - Robotech(My first Mecha), Beast Wars: Transformers (Lame), Sailor Moon(My first Drama/wtf was that), Superfriends (sorta lame), Dragon Ball Z (anime hooker!) Edit(I almost forgot Jonny Quest was in there too)
yeah I know it started in 1997 but i couldn't drive back then and get home in time to watch so i didn't know it existed.
