@Tatsu: Ah and here I thought that you dated even further back before those which I would say was more 'recent' (after 2000) (Then again it is almost past another decade :o)

Hmm let's see, I guess the addiction started with Inuyasha and not long after I got internet I searched everywhere to get some downloads. But my anime list didn't go any further then that until about a year and a half ago a friend introduced me to Death Note.
One day after finishing Death Note I was window shopping the mall and stopped by the media store FYE and browsed the anime dvd section, saw the box set of Maburaho and thought it looked good, found the downloads and fell in love and had to find more of it...

This reminds me of Blue Dragon, which is not a good thing.

The very first was Ghost in the Shell (1996) movie from Block Buster. I rented it, watched it, fell in love. The second was DBZ from 1998 to I think 1999 or 2000 or something. I got to know more about anime around 2004 of March with Scrapped Princess then Hajime no Ippo ... and then, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. KgNE became my favorite anime; it struck me to know something as realistic as this to exist in anime! I was very happy and that is when I begun my career as an anime seeker.
-Aniki-:
I was at my cousin's house and we where just hanging out in the basement, on the bookshelf there where a few books and I took them out and there was some manga (I didn't know what was manga at that time xD). I wanted to read some comics so I read something called Prince of Tennis o_O. About 2 years later I was watching some really gay show on TV and my cousin was over and said lets watch some Naruto. I was like: wtf is Naruto o_O. So we watched it and I thought it was just some really weird cartoon (didn't know what anime was at this time o_O) and later I searched Naruto on the internet, watched some clips on Youtube and was like: (Oh! so it's called anime o_O). Then I remembered that I saw someone like anime in a book a long time ago. I remembered that it had something to do with tennis. So that's when I found out about manga and found out that it was called the Prince of Tennis. So since my cousin only had that first chapter of Prince of Tennis I found out that I could finish by finding manga online. Then I found out there was an anime for POT too and got hooked on anime.
There was of course the times when i watched Pokemon and DBZ and stuff, but I didn't know they were anime, so that can't really be called as being into anime O_o
