Ok, for starters... Scarrrrreeewww you! Scooby Doo is freagin' awesome! Powerpuff Girls? Mojo Jojo is the best! I really disliked Dragon Ball Z even though most of my friends enjoyed the series as a kid.. That and Pokemon really put me off from Anime for years until one of my good friends recommended I watch Death Note a year'ish ago.

Now I'm hooked! I started watching the various 'grown-up' anime, and fell in love with the romance/drama genre. Something American cartoons really can't pull off with the same power that an Anime could. (and Anime simply can't pull off some genres like an American cartoon could in my opinion too!)

Both American and Anime cartoons have their strengths and weakenesses, I just learn to love them both.

Looks like we are also naming animes we watched too that got us into it.

Well aside from the story I posted earlier about how I got into it during that whole period of time I was watching stuff like:

- Robotech english dub on VHS
- Ranma 1/2 english dub on VHS
- Ninja Scroll english dub on VHS
- old Guyver OVA english dub on VHS
- random Macross fansubs on VHS
- Tekkaman Blade english dub that was broadcast on UPN called Teknoman and horribly edited and was cancelled in just when things got good
- Escaflowne english dub on Fox
- Dragonball and Dragonball Z english dubs that absolutely ruined me from ever wanting to watch it in Jap
- Pokemon either on Fox or maybe Cartoon Network it's been so long

I grew up watching them on local tv shows and after that the internet/worldwideweb happened.

That picture is missing a few things:
(click to show/hide)Tentacle monsters.
Velma isn't hot enough. She's supposed to be a moe kawaii meganekko.
Daphne is wearing too much.
Scooby should be coming out of a Pokeball.
Fred needs spikier hair.
Shaggy... is not too bad really.
What really got me into anime was how GitS: SAC managed to convey such powerful messages without feeling preachy. There were no super-deformed moments, no funny eyes, no tsundere's whacking people with whopping great hammers. I've grown to enjoy those things in other anime, on occasion, but GitS showed me how anime could be properly dramatic and... basically, serious business.
