« on: May 20, 2009, 04:10:39 PM »
Hi,

I wanna start watching Gundam Series but i dont know where to start, the series are just alot and too confusing for me. I want to start watching Gundam from the beginning but not the old gundam, just enough to understand the storylines. Do the gundam series have different stories? I know majority like Gundam wing or Gundam seed, issit okay if i start watching Gundam seed right away or will i be missing alot of things.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gundam#Calendar_system
If it's a different calendar, it's not related to anything in the other calendars.

Bah its usually thesame kinda plot, probably same applies to all anime, but its the usual some one is the 'uber pilot' must save the world.

lol I never got into Gundam as I watched it on the TV dubbed, it was just too annoying for me, I still recall those moments.

Anyway, I'd say just start with Gundam seed, alittle more recent than the other ones and probably slightly better animated, the story is all the same just with different sets of child pilots instead.

It doesn't matter the order so much.  :P
I didn't really get into gundam seed that much but i'd suggest starting with Wing or the 8th MS team
then go to Gundam 00, the best gundam series so far.
Then when you want to take a break from all that war check out Mobile Fighter G Gundam which is about Gundam's...Street fighter style!
If your really hard core you could check out Gundam 0083 which i think was the first gundam?

tatsujin thx!!( for nothin! ) thanks Sebur for the SIG!

I haven't seen a lot of Anime, but I could never get into Gundam Wing, I just thought that it was really boring. However, on the other hand, I found Gundam Seed to be amazing.

While we're on the subject of Gundam Seed, can we please start a Shinn Asuka hate-club?  He almost ruined the Gundam Seed franchise to me when he took center stage in Destiny.

The most annoying, angst-ridden, emo-character to grace the genre of mecha anime since Shinji of NGE.

All Shinn did was bitch about every little thing in Destiny, and he was so arrogant to boot!  Couldn't stand that punk.

Heh, I had the exact same problem. I wanted to watch some mecha anime, but with all the different series', I didn't know where to begin.

I just grabbed Gundam 00 because it had decent reviews and the best graphics, as far as I could tell. Didn't seem like I was missing on anything important storywise. As has been said here before, they all seem to run along the same lines anyways ;)
