Errr... I've said that it's been ages since I saw this series, but I don't recall anything totally disgusting.

If I recall correctly, the "hunters" were supposed to eliminate the threat of the "witches". But some witches actually were "good", so they worked for the good guys. So... What I mean is, I don't know what you are talking about.
Or maybe something about Robin becoming extremely powerful or something like that.

billlanam:
They made Orbo from the living bodies of the witches that they caught, they were put in tanks with tubes and stuff stuck in them to extract tissue to make Orbo.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Orbo, yeah, I remember now.
It was a cool thing at the beginning of the series.

But, dude, totally spoiler.

AntiPaladin:
And that was my problem. We have a 26 episode series, and the first ~20 episodes barely deal with the final plot. Yes, we know about witches being captured, yes we know about orbo, but neither are central to the plot - instead, it focuses on Robin trying to control her powers and her relationship with Amon. Then, we suddenly sprint to the finish instead of developing it along the way.

Compare that with things like Elfen Lied and Saikano.

In each, there was always a single, central plot being worked towards. "Will Nyu remember she's the evil Lucy?" and "Will Chise and Shuji remain together?" All of the sub-plots tied in to those central ideas. Every episode touched on the central issue, if just briefly. WHR opened with the world, introduced these concepts, then ignored them for most of the series. That is why I think the ending felt rushed.
