FUNimation licenses Spice and Wolf

This is both sad and good at the same time. I like how more licenses for series full of japanese jokes and history has been comming to the west, but hey its over a year since Funimation aquired the Seto no Hanayome license and haven't released anything yet.

Oh god, please don't let them license S2 before the DVD versions at least are done.
Better yet, let the sales fail, then they won't license S2 at all, like Jigoku Shoujo.

I'm glad I got this off Box before it was licensed, that said I hope they don't sit on it like what pnilz said.

lol this is why i don't purchase anything that is licensed by Funimation. you purchase something, you support them, they license more anime and they'll send more of those C&D letters to fansubs. what's the point? I don't support them, ADV and Central Park because of those reasons, I'll put my money somewhere else.

I feel like this is going to just turn into another Funimation bashing thread. I'll probably buy the DVD(s) if they can release it in a timely manner, but like someone said above sometimes companies just sit on licenses. I don't mind buying DVDs at all, as long as it's not crap, isn't released 3 years later, and if it's at a reasonable price. I've seen some of that lately, and it's really not a bad thing. I would rather see anime get licensed then nothing ever get licensed. The latter is far far worse than the former imo.

So what your saying is you dont buy anything they license because they send out C&D letters? Thats stupid. Basically your saying you dont support them because they dont want poeple to have anime for free. Sure it annoys me when they pick up a show im watching and license it like phantom or the new full metal, but doesnt mean I wont support them. I think the fact that they are getting so many series out there for poeple to buy is a good thing. It will only help the industry. Also I think they have done a pretty good job of still allowing poeple to view the anime as they even offer a bunch of shows now that are still airing in japan with sub titles for free on there site.

M...m...mah prettah torrent description... ;_;

Somehow not too surprised by this, given Spice & Wolf's popularity. Like someone else mentioned, I just hope they don't touch season 2 until it's fully subbed at least.

I think one of the reasons the are sitting on licences is because they grab it before someone else does while not having resources to sub it and release.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

why would i want to support a company that hunts down fansubs? It's not stupid, it is my reasoning and my own opinion. I've already bought S1-3 for Maria-Sama. I'm just not gonna fucking give them money, period. My choice, my opinion.

Funi has been moving very fast lately at licensing shows, much quicker than they used too. It makes sense from a business standpoint.
Doesn't mean I have to like it though. :) And I am glad I got the blu-ray version when I did.
