Bartender
« on: May 30, 2009, 12:37:01 AM »
So I came across this today looking for a slice of life, episodic anime to help me relax after finishing Kaiba (one hell of an anime, if I may say so myself).
I didn't have much expectations for this; I mean, come on, a show about a bar isn't very appealing but boy oh boy was I suprised.

Just after one episode, I was hooked. It made me feel very relaxed and soothing--I felt like I was at a real bar :)
Did I mention that the ED is very unique and enthralling?

Hey, that actually sounds really interesting (just looked it up on A-p). I didn't even realize there was stuff like this. It sounds more like some kind of relaxing simulation than a TV show, but that just makes it all the more interesting! I'm definitely going to add this to my list, probably in line after something intense that I'll want a nice relaxing cool down from.

OHH! That's a great show!! I love it. It's one of the best slife shows I have ever watched. And if you like cocktails... well, try them ;)

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

It's quite an interesting show actually. I recall grabbing it off Lunar as soon as it showed up. (Way back when lunar still subbed bleach)

I hear really good things about this one.  It is on my list of shows to watch.  I heard it is a lot like Natsume Yuujin-chou in the fact you don't expect it to be much, but in the end it will really open your eyes.

I hope to watch through this one next month...hopefully.
I have typed these words and you have been forced to read them.  Now you can go cry in the corner if you like :)

Ok done.

11/11.
Overall Impressions:
+ Original concept
+ Explores many themes
+ Alcohol is soothing to the soul
+ Unique ED
- Bar design continuity
- Other than the drinks, animation is only average at best
- Too short

Overall 7/10. Great concept but the execution was quite a bit off.

This was a really fun surprise for a series. I forget who led me to it, but I'm glad I watched it. It was too short, and a few episodes I think didn't pace well, but so original. Totally worth a relaxing Saturday morning or two.

I've had this show on the HDD for awhile, but haven't got around to it :( Then again, there's stuff I DLed in 2005 but still haven't watched  :o If you're looking for another episodic/realistic slice of life series, you might try Human Crossing.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

I feel you Zalis. I also have this and never seen it, I had it for a long time. This anime is more of an October-November show anime. And I too have stuff have not seen yet.

If you lost a whole day with it that could explain where it went.

I watched the series, Interesting concept more about the story than the animation of course.

I don't get comfort from drinks/bars so I couldn't relate to the characters very well.
