Gran Turismo 5 vs. Forza 3
fohfoh:
I laugh when people compare stuff like xbox vs ps2, or forza 2 vs GT4. Give it a rest already retards. GT4 was release almost 4 years ago. Forza 2 was released around a year and half a year ago. Apples and oranges. The 1 year release of forza 3 is a half assed attempt at best. It's "better" but what's it comparing to? People are going to praise it vs something that was created from itself and something that was created 4 years ago? (You could technically compare it to GT5 prologue, but that's not really a game. It's like a super long demo)
Forza might end up holding a crown, but for how long? I'm going to bet that GT5 is going to hold out as being a better game for a lot longer time than any (or forth coming) forza game. Then, some Forza 7 or something is going to claim being better than GT5 maybe after 3-4 years and the retards will believe it. (Because it's true, but it's like comparing a 1987 BMW M3 e30 vs a 2008 M3 due to the speed of technology). Then a new GT6... and again. Greatness for a longer time period.
Seriously though, many of the comments I see from Forza fans are somewhat silly. "OMFG SO REALISTIC!" From what? Your piece of shit 1992 corolla? These are the retards who actually think going 20-40 kmph over the speed limit is "fucking amazing". I recall watching Stage 4 of initial D and was like, "Fuck that's cool!". Driving fast in my parent's Nissan Maxima and Honda Odyssey. So fast one time that I heard the tires squeal on the Odyssey from the time I entered the turn, till I finished the turn. (maybe 3-5 seconds?) But yeah. Now that I look back, stupid thing to do. But I remember driving faster than many BMW 3 series, Ford Mustangs and such. Acceleration? Probably on par with some car that has 20-30HP less. Racing "sims" don't show that. They have to show that a car kicks ass vs a "heavy van/truck". In GT4, a 150HP civic probably accelerates faster than a 210 or 220 HP honda odyssey. (NOT TRUE IN REAL LIFE)
Racing sims are cool to waste time. But the more that people begin claiming "OMFG REALISTIC!" makes me laugh. (Realistic... maybe. But as soon as people believe they know about cars due to that game... you know you're dealing with a fanboy retard who can't differentiate reality from virtual reality)
By the way, did anyone ever read the "gamers vs real racers" automotive article? They had a bunch of guys who were racing sims fans go against actual formula drivers. One sim racer stood out amongst the rest and may have had a chance to beat the formula one driver if his vehicle didn't have issues. However, I believe more than half of the racing sim kids were total fail, and I suspect the remainder were people who actually drive their cars like crazy in real life and have experienced some g-forces from crazy turns and experienced what it's like being behind the wheel of a car going 150kmph + (OMFG 30 kmph OVER SPEED LIMIT!)
* fohfoh remembers going 170 kmph in his 127 HP Acura El 1.6. (Totally suprised that car even went that fast. THANKS RACING SIMS FOR MAKING ME BELIEVE BULLSHIT!)

Your starting point is something that I would still like to point out:
Forza will have 2 releases before GT has 1.
Are the GT games superior? Generally speaking yes, but that doesn't mean Forza is not a quality game. There can only be 1 best (and as I've stated GT has been that best throughout history) but that doesn't mean it can't have a good competition. That's why I said before, I'll be rockin Forza 4 while you guys are still waiting on how great a game GT5 is going to be. It better be the best game ever with the huge amount of developing time it's had.

So, what was the release date of GT5 again?
...
Thought so.
You know, I don't really care which one will be better. I'm not a huge fan of driving games, and Burnout Paradise satisfies my needs in that respect.
However, before the competition between Forza 3 and GT5 even starts, GT5 needs to hit the shelves, and I really don't see that coming in the near future. It's kinda sad, really, since Gran Turismo was always one of the hallmarks of the Playstation series, and after two years from the PS3's debut all we have is a demo we have to pay for...
Oh, BTW - neither the GT series nor the Forza series are simulators. rFactor, GTR, GT legends - those are real sims, Forza and GT, while aiming to achieve a certain level of realism, are arcade games compared to these.
vicious796:
If I recall properly though, those are all not readily available and have the 'ease of use' that these two mainstream games have.
costi:
Define "readily available"? Dunno about where you live, but here I go to a game store, take rFactor from the shelf and go pay ;)
As for "ease of use" - their main point is realism, so the learning curve is rather steep. If I recall correctly, ale least GT Legends offered some optional driving aids (which made life only a little easier ;) ). They aren't exactly mainstream games, though. They're to driving games what Falcon 4.0 is in the world of flight sims.
