I'm watching Hyakko right now, and it's fairly funny in its own right. It also manages to actually develop the friendships of the girls, and it has several extremely cute/moe/yuri-undertone moments. This is quite a nice find. Keep the animes coming in.

first place: Midori no Hibi (never laughed so hard during an anime in my life)

close second: Azumanga Diaoh (need I explain?)

close third: Sayonara Zaibatsu Sensei (had to pause every 2 seconds to read what was on the chalkboard. lmao funny)

honorable mention - Kodomo no Jikan (more of a "WTF?!?!" kind of laugh than a "Haha that's funny" laugh...)

As for my epicly funny animes:

Gintama: The anime does the manga justice and both are screamingly funny. There is a good balance between reference-gags and plain dumb/funny/random ones. It's an intense show that goes directly for your feelings(I have cried during some of the serious episodes ^^').

Ranma: It just doesn't cease to get funny for me ... Inu Yasha has it's funny moments, too(manga, mainly). I like the way the mangaka handles the daily absurdity slapstick.

Hakaba Kitarou: The last of the ghost tribe, born on a graveyard, goes through adventures and tries to fool mankind as much as possible. I highly enjoy the slightly bizarre, wacky sort of humour ... the soundtrack is also really good.

I also liked, but am too lazy to write about(sorry ^^'): Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, Pani Poni Dash(omega^~^), GTO, Oruchiban Ebichu, Kyo Kara Mao, Negima!, Welcome to the NHK, Lucky Star, Kappa no Kai-kata, Seiyou Kottou Yougashiten: Antique(Antique Bakery). The Captain Harlock series & movies have their really funny moments, too.

I agree. While there's many amusing anime, only a few actually made me laugh out loud: GTO, FMP Fumoffu, and Hajime No Ippo. Currently watching the new season; haven't laughed that hard in awhile.

First, let me say that anyone who likes Kannagi and hasn't seen Minami-ke is missing out. Minami-ke has very similar humor, but much more of it than Kannagi.

Moetan and Potemayo are also similar to each other in their selection of insanity.

I've also seen Seto no Hanayome and Magikano mentioned several times, and they have definite similarities as well.

Anyway, on to my list. (I couldn't bring myself to rank it anymore than separating things into groups.)

The submarine(-like spaceship) that came out of the toilet had me laughing so hard I couldn't breathe for a good while. Then I started the show again, and started laughing again, and had to stop it and catch my breath all over again.

I actually wouldn't say that...

Minami Ke is an enjoyable ride indeed, but it's not much like Kannagi with its humor. It's more peaceful and just has a different feel to it in general...

Well that depends. I'm not saying that Minami-ke did NOT have some of the humorous types of things found in Kannagi (it probably did), but that the show in general had a different mood. What about Kannagi's humor did you enjoy?
