The pettiness is in presuming the reason for Linux's creation was that it's creator was too poor to have "real" UNIX so he had to make his own.

Uh, no. Mac OS X was never based on Linux.

Uh no. This is completely wrong. Linux started out as a terminal emulation program that is independent of hardware and operating system. It was developed on the MINIX which is a UNIX-like operating system.
