Mac OS X v.s. Windows For Watching anime?
Syzygia:
Does it really matter? As long as you're using a modern machine, any modern OS should be capable of playing any modern audio/video file.
(Personally, I use Vista/Zoom Player…but that's just a preference thing.)

If you tweak things, you can get anything you want to work after any time period. Vista sometimes need tweaks to work correctly. (Some video overlay issues or something int he original service packs but not much of an issue any more). XP is usually good to go, and OSX you do have to tweak and as stated before, there's stuff you can't touch. (Converting files is NOT considered a reason you can overlook a certain file type)
AFAIK, if we're talking just the OS, windows wins hands down due to stupid file formats such as rmvb or nsv(which only works in winamp properly and works in VLC but is horribly crippled)

Wikipedia gives a list of players for NSV. Couldn't tell you how well, but it says MPlayer supports it, among some others. RMVB seems less optimal if you're not using Windows (and RealPlayer in particular) although I dunno how common it is as a format.

There is nothing easier than buying a Mac, installing MPlayer or VLC and then playing video with no tweaking. They even support the Apple Remote that comes with the computer.

Gotta say, I do love that little remote. When I haven't lost it.
But seriously, why should your OS make such a difference to what you watch? I've not had a problem yet myself.
