Path, I would like to know, what makes you say that about Darker than Black? I mean is there a source good enough for THORA to start the project?(BD,HDTV?) Because I've been waiting for E-D to finish, but now that you mentioned the thing above I'm kinda confused. >.>

Obviously they will use the BDs when they are released (end of September IIRC).

Sakura is a fansub group?! ... Never heard of them.

Sounds like some ad hoc project; the site seems to support this as well.

THORA will likely be doing Darker than Black (i.e. they will) in some form.
Sakura is group dedicated in doing "delocalized" subs for CCS. They've been doing it for the DVDs before.

I'd like to know the your source of information (or at least assumptions) about THORA doing darker than black.

Adenozin.

The originally named Celestial Being have apparently released some BDs as well, including what appears to be a humongous 2+ GB encode of the first episode of Heroic Age. Makes you wonder what'd motivate that.

And now that I've scanned through that release, I'm still wondering. Mostly over who came up with the brilliant choice for a font.

Sadly, it has not. The 1080p looks just like the strange 960p DmonHiro spat out months ago, only with 50% more CPU needed. Subs are better though.
Odd, looks fine to me.

I think THORA's rule is they will do all most any decent anime on Blu-ray source. Provided they have a media source and/or subs. Their biggest problem seems to be getting the media, which is why many of their projects are stalled. If the ISO is not available, buying the discs is a financial burden. Darker Than Black is ~$400.

EDIT: They are also financial burdening me as I have to buy another 1TB HDD, to keep up with the releases.

The encoder for Celestial-Being is Skyknight, a former encoder for aasasubs. He was the one who encoded the 16:9 K-On and Queen's Blade and stuff off the 4:3 station.

Knowing the previous releases of aasasubs, something has made me always think of them as a troll sub group. So, you are most likely being trolled.

Put extra 25 dollars and go for the WD 1.5 TB (avoid the Seagate one, hearing problems on it). It's 120 dollars, about 20-30ish dollars away for 500 GB more. =] I'm getting couple of these to replace my internal HDD's in couple of months.

The seagate 7200.11 are problematic (I've experienced problems with one of those myself - bricked to hell).
I now own a 1TB WD Caviar Black. It's blazing fast but it's rather audible (think old 5200 rpm drives - also probably because of the front bezel, perforated for fan intake). As storage, i'm very happy with it.

I essentially concur with that after having looked at the encode ::)

Well, I don't know if it counts, but I'll be doing Air in BluRay. I've already have the encodes, 14 episodes (it seems that the 'Summary' is missing in the BD) in 1080p with 5.1 FLAC, size varies from 800MB to 1GB per episode (12.3GB total). For the subs, I'll convert the VobSubs from the DVD to ASS. I don't know when it's going to be finished, I don't' have much time now. But I'll finish for sure, I love Air :)

A pity all the Air fansubs are hardcoded (Triad, Ishin and Koi at any rate) as I'm not entirely sold on the official ones, but nevertheless a worthy project :)

It's quite possible to capture hardsubs from a video, and actually might not be any harder than converting the vobsubs to ssa/ass, since you'd have to OCR those anyway. You just have to make sure the program you are using supports capturing subs from the video itself.

LOL! That's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the releases!

Are you kidding us about Darker than Black?  $400 for *any* show is just plain ridiculous.

I hope they do Shigurui.

Darker Than Black is ~$400.
And then publishers and production studios whine about people not paying to watch their stuff? Jesus Christ.

I like DtB, but $400 is outrageous. Give me a break.

Feed them money. You're not only assisting them from over seas, but purchasing something you really like. So why not. Better than spending money here and getting shit licensed and giving Fansubs trouble.
