Feed them money. You're not only assisting them from over seas, but purchasing something you really like. So why not. Better than spending money here and getting shit licensed and giving Fansubs trouble.
That is true, but really, it could be priced a little more reasonably. D:

Exactly. Because of the ridiculous pricing, people will continue to download.

Hey, you know what's funny?
With the current available download speeds, some people can actually download the whole thing faster than wait for it to ship and arrive by mail.

That's Japanese pricing for you. I do advocate buying anime if it's distributed in one's own area, since it puts more money into the global anime industry. But if people want to buy legitimate products directly from Japan, more power to them.

As for CCS, great news that KAA and Sakura are doing the Blu-Rays. But I hope somebody releases a better-quality SD version, because it would suck if the choices were (720p/1080p h264 mkv) vs. (480p XviD ogm).

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

LOL! That's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the releases!

Are you kidding us about Darker than Black?  $400 for *any* show is just plain ridiculous.

I hope they do Shigurui.
He isn't kidding. Darker than Black BDs will cost around 35000yen according to CDJapan. Tax isn't included in that.

Which is why THORA has this job position currently unfilled, "unreasonably rich blu-ray buyer." Wish I could fill that job... sigh  :'(.

EDIT: Come November Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles Season 1 will be on Blu-ray. I may take a shot at subbing if the quality is good; the DVDs just sucked.

Sakura also doing the SD version IIRC.

I blame the guy who reported THORA's paypal account.

Hopefully it is ripped and subbed quickly. That's ridiculous.

I'd probably buy it if it came to NA for a reasonable price and had good PQ and AQ.

Price isn't an issue if ISOs are available. The reason THORA needs a buyer is because the ISOs aren't available.

What ISOs aren't available? I don't think you mean DtB, since the BR isn't out yet.

I'm obviously not talking about Darker than Black. I'm talking about THORA and their need for a rich BD buyer. I would have volunteered for some of those if not for the rediculously high import taxes in my country.

They have been doing R1 I think.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

A pity all the Air fansubs are hardcoded (Triad, Ishin and Koi at any rate) as I'm not entirely sold on the official ones, but nevertheless a worthy project :)
I've already started with the DVD subs. I've have them all extracted and converted to ass. I'm doing the signs and checking for errors now. When I finish all that I'll see what I can do with the songs. Are these subs so bad? I've seen Air for the first time with them and they don't seemed that bad. But, well, I don't know Japanese son I can't say anything ;D

Well am I glad to hear this!^^ My hope of watching B-G releases of Air has gone some very long time ago. Good luck Sakura!
My subs probably won't have many fancy effects, I'll keep them simple, plus I don't have a lot of time nor I'm very experienced with subbing. But at least they'll be worth the watch :)

Some screens (the originals are 1080p, it's only that my crappy monitor displays up to 1280x1024):

What does "[sic]" mean? I don't think anyone got sick in the article so why is it in there? Should I start writing and post "[dump]" when I leave to go take a shit then return?

No problems with simple subs. Some groups get to carried away with effects and stuff, and it detracts from the show you are trying to watch.

R1 DVD subs encoded onto Blu-ray audio and video, if I understand correctly. (Since AiR Blu-rays are only R2 AFAIK.)
