Fairy Law hasn't been stopped yet.

Freed was defeated. Not him.

Eve was not defeated. Not him.

The Thunder Palace was a timed spell. He could not prematurely activate them until the magic timer on it was set to go off. He didn't wan't to destroy the town in the first place. He intended to make use of Makarov's love for his guild members and force him into relinquishing control of the guild to him. It's only now he wants to reduce everything to ashes and rebuild it.

He hasn't lost his senses per say. His rage at everyone defying him is more or less allowing him to release the entirety of his powers to realize his dream and latent aspirations.

As far as his actions being fail, I think that is debatable and based upon each individuals eyes and interpretations. I do not necessarily consider his actions to be completely bad. And they are far from right as well. Just misguided. As I see it, deep down, he is actually doing it for the good of the guild from his own point of view. Remember that he did not decide to take his current actions after the guild was nearly destroyed and until after the guild accepted some of the enemy wizards, particularly THE wizard that actually destroyed the original guild as full fledged members.

I don't agree with everything he is doing, but, to a point I can definitely understand. Just thoughts from my perspective mind you.

he enraged cuz all his attacks were twarted, and after he activates Fairy Tail he hears that his gramps is on death bed, and instead of expected reaction he laughs and continues, I know his spell will fail, because he doesn't see anyone in Magnolia and Fairy Tail as enemy, I know he loves the guild a lot, his vision of the guild is flawed, that is why Makarov doesn't want him to be the master, if anyone, Lucy would be the best Master at this moment, but her powers aren't strong enough yet, so other candidates are either Natsu or Erza.

Laxus is a sore loser, he lost his own game, the lacrima were destroyed, he has nothing to threat the old man with, and then he hears he is dying, normally he would go to him instantly, so why doesn't he go ? you don't call that a fail ?

Sore loser? yes But on the same token, everyone is a sore loser. Regardless of how much we like to think were not, no one would give up and just back down if they were in his shoes. It's just part of our standard nature. Especially if your as powerful as Laxus is. So no, I don't consider it a fail yet because he has yet to actually fail. We all know he will, since the show couldn't continue if Fairy Law does get invoked and does destroy Magnolia and the guild with it but is has not been stopped yet. So at this point, until the next episode comes, he still has the edge.

Also, Laxus IS the strongest Fairy Tail member introduced so far in the anime. There's no doubt about that. He took Gajeel and Natsu on and almost beat them. He lost by an inch. Not even Natsu or Gajeel think they beat him. He is THAT strong. Maybe Mistgun is as strong, but we'll never know, since their battle got interrupted. Also, while it does pain me, Laxus would probably beat Erza.

Of course his plan failed. It failed from the second he made it. He didn't even know what he really wanted anyway. He wanted a stronger guild, but he didn't actually know what that meant. All he though about was power, not actual strength. He didn't even want THAT anyway, he wanted people to recognize him for who he is. Laxus had a huge inferiority complex steaming from his childhood, and even though he became really strong, he never stopped feeling week. But he never realized he wasn't actually feeling week, he was feeling alone. So yeah, his plan failed from the start. He didn't actually hate the other members of Fairy Tail or the guild. Fairy Law is proof of that, since you can't lie to your own heart.

As for the others, I really don't think they were out to kill. If what she said was true, Evergreen could have killed all the girls the second everyone started fighting, since there was no way of them knowing the girls were dead. which proves my claim at the start of the arc true, I felt bad for Laxus, but he realized his mistake far too late, he thought everyone was looking at him as the grandson of the gramps, but actually, no one in the guild ever thought about it, he was Fairy tail member for everyone, an S class wizard, they knew he was gramps grandson, and were proud of that, but they respected him for his power not heritage, he was a little fool, be he strong or weak, they loved him all the same in Fairy Tail, too bad he didn't see that, well, no he does

I don't know what's up with Fairy Tail but.. I really think it's the music score that does A HELLUVA MAGIC JOB!
