BlazBlue
« on: July 01, 2009, 11:22:37 PM »
Just saw the 5/5 stars from users, and saw couple of high ratings from game reviewers. I saw the gameplay and graphics so I decided to pre-order it and get the limited edition from amazon.

Anyone else got/getting this game?

nice, i don't want games that tell you "HK + HP, 160 degree angle, shit, kick, ass, only usable in the air on the enemy, must do it in 0.5 seconds" type of thing, lmao.

I picked up an early copy on the 26th (Gotta love connections)

Its a great game overall. The ratings that its getting aren't lying at all. If you like 2d fighters, its worth picking up.

Thing is though, an 'elegant' (?) combo is rather hard to pull off and does require some practice. But when you can manage to do it, it gets you all :3 inside. From my experience in early online both ranked and player matches, the pro's who also got early copies made it very clear they were good and out of 100 games that I played in Ranked I came out with a fluxuated win rate between 30 to 40%. Player matches on the other hand are a bit funner in my opinion, but I can't quite put my finger on why though. My main currently is the sweet sweet precious sweet Noel Vermillion and my sub alternates between Jin and Taokaka.

And on a final note, a good Ragna is the most frustrating thing in the world.

Wish it was out for PC (even though it really is more of a console game), looks very cool and I'm geniunenly surprised with the scores it has gotten. Hope one of my friends gets it.

Oh my god this game is so fucking awesome. I got the limited edition for the PS3 and I got the movie in Blu-ray, I wonder what the limited edition for the 360 is ... -tries not to laugh-. I just went to the Story Mode, it's a Visual Novel! It's so awesome! The words go all over the screen, you can auto-read or you can just watch the graphics! This is one hell of a game. It's truely beautiful too, awesome 2D graphics and a lot of flashy content. I'm selling my Street Fighter 4, boring game.

I'm keeping this game for ages, probably like my Heavenly Sword and MGS IV games.

There's a trick to the story mode if you want to 100% complete it. Lemme see if I can find the thing about it... I know for a fact you have to do some of them multiple times, to get artwork/the good ending/etc... its kind of annoying but kind of cool at the same time.

Edit: Also, if you want to learn some tips and tricks, watch some of the videos made by these guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_VO3JIEGXU (Very useful stuff)

So far I'm rather disappointed in this game. The 12 character roster is highly limited and I'm having difficulty picking a main. I've been disinclined to play after the first 2 days of owning it. I sort of need a push into the game again, and I need to decide on a main for sure.

well it is the FIRST BlazBlue in the first GuiltyGear if i didnt want my main to be Sol or Ky (I.e. Ryu and Ken) i couldn't seem to get into any one else. but since its new er what ever it could have character updates.

Even if it that's the case, it doesn't make the shitty and limited roster any better. In fact, the fact that they have developed such a large number of fighting games should make it easier for them to develop games with large rosters.

All this game has made me want to do is go back to Street Fighter IV. Shouldn't have spent $60 on this.

mwhaha ha ha! I agree with that i could play StreetFighter 4 all day long!
the proly skimped on the characters for pure laziness... "well we have a complete game and a solid system.. 12 characters.... PERFECT done!" "People will play with every one since the game is new!" "plus!! people will buy this shit cus it's like guilty gear!"

The first Street Fighter only had 2 playable character. Street Fighter II only had 8 playable characters. Street Fighter Alpha 1 only had 10 playable characters, 2 of them new. Street Fighter III only had 11 playable characters, 9 of them new.

12 characters is actually pretty damn good for a new series.

just got it on 360 today!!
so far im lovin it, only problem is the fighting fundamentals are really different.
elaboration.
SF2 fundamentals equal constant spamming, priorizing throws and really good mashing.
Umk3 fundamentals = dial-a-combo (a,b,c,b+c) to specials. and good countering.
Guilty Gear fundamentals = prioritzing offense and advanced play requires really well timed roman cancels with a good one hit kill desperation move on the side.

Blaz Blue fundamentals....... Really good zoning with projectiles so far! (arakune, alucard, and V-13) been havin a real hard time fightin them with Ragna the blood edge.  not to mention you only get your max super cool awsome special as a "flash finish" since you cant use it until they have 20% or lower health and its the final round. they shoulda kept the same desperation moves that they had in GG.

This is true. I guess it's more the fact that none of the characters playstyles appeal to me thus far. Maybe I simply dislike the game rather than the characters, but I just feel like the quality of the roster, not necessarily the quantity, is very lacking.
