and your standard video card ... o wait nvm.  Standard soundcards ... o wait nvm
And no its not an exageration. You can get what a nvidia gx120 on a 6000$ computer ?

upgrading nearly anything except HD or memory = buy a new mac

On Mac Pro's you can plug in about any standard sound card, ram, HDs, or processors (provided they're the right socket). Graphics cards obviously not, but that's mostly due to the fact that Macs use EFI instead of the incredibly old BIOS. The main problem that you would run into with sound cards is that Apple abandoned vanilla PCI a couple years ago, so your selection is limited to PCI-Express cards.

And saying that customers dont need cutting edge, you mean like 3g technology that was in about half of ATT phones in their lineup when the original iphone was released that makes many peoples signals go from crap to amazing.

The ability to make my own ringtones for my phone without the burden of downloading apps or jailbreaking my phone

The way I see the feature delay on iPhones is this: Apple started with their desktop OS (OS X) and had to transform it into that of a phone. It's not too far off from writing an entirely new phone OS. They didn't have anything else to base it on. As a result, it took a while to reach feature parity with phones that had been in existence before.

I will admit that the ringtone bit is a kinda silly.

Even if they did build it from scratch. They could have pushed for everything in in the first release. They did not even have a 3g chipset in the first so it wasnt not an os limitation. It was all good business on their part if you ask me. And it has worked so far. I use a macbook and dont knock it at all. But i sometimes agree there new and improved laptops are just a little bit over the last model. Usually just enough to make you want it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Android was built from scratch, and many phones using Android (HTC Being the first) had 3G and MMS almost right off the bat instead of having to wait how long since Gen1 to Gen3? I gotta agree on the above on this one. It was premature, "good business" or fail depending on how you look at it. I mean it's one thing if a simple upgrades means I get these features on a gen 1 iphone. It's another to be required to buy a new gen iPhone to get this feature. Arbitrarily defending Apple by saying, "Most don't use that, or you can do X (If you learn how to hack and mod and flash and all that shit 90% of all normal consumers are too stupid to do) is stupid and it just reinforces the belief of a locked down inferior product because you are TOLD what you need.

I mean, "older" tech isn't really an issue here. It's something else underlying. Cars for instance have had certain types of technologies for over 20+ years but don't get critiqued as harshly unless it can't follow up on "standards" in the industry. (such as cost effectiveness, mileage, just running for fucks sakes etc.)

True. It could be argued that Android had the advantage of being open and known to the community, compared to Apple's legendary levels of secrecy, though, allowing people to tell Google and co exactly what they wanted it to be able to do before it was even released.

apple keeping their own shit top secret doesnt stop them from browsing the internet that is filled without countless apple fanboy forums and websites spouting the nonsense they would like to see put into apple products.

Apple isnt fucking stupid. They knew that because of the buzz around the iphone they could deliberately leave out features like 3G with the mindset that its ok the next one will have it.

Enough apple retard fanboys went out and bought an iphone 3G when they had a regular iphone that they would be stupid not to continue such trends.

Until the retard apple fanboys learn how to tell apple to go fuck themselves for taking advantage heavily of their supporters you will continue to be swindle by the worlds biggest and popular carnies aka Apple

Honestly speaking, I'd rather Sony over Apply. Sony may have stuff that the consumer wants, but it's damn expensive, but it's "topline" and far too pricey. Apple has stuff that's far too pricey but no where close to top line. High mid maybe, but not top. Sony actually "invents"(OLED kinda, PS3 kinda, MS Duo etc kinda), Apple pretends to "innovate". That's about it. It's still riding on the coattails of its original products. I mean, the only thing the iPod is decent for is playlists, but give an mp3/4 a little time and the same can be done there (though not as idiot proof as that piece of shit known as iTunes).

The main thing I dislike about sony products are their designs. Some are good, but others... well... they're better looking than Dells, but that's not saying much.

Also, are they still pushing that stupid memory stick?

Sony products usually use memory sticks, unless you look at their SLRs, those use industry standard memory.

But yes, Sony's stuff is hit or miss.

Seriously though, Apple's stuff is like Hollywood remakes of comics. There's so much potential and yet we get steaming piles of shit like Transformers 2. I mean COME ON! The potential is right there in front of you as plain as day and the higher ups can still find a way to fuck up.

I'm not going to blame Steve Jobs though. He gives me a feeling he wanted a phone function in as an afterthought (and that's what the iPhone is). He probably dished the phone aspect to someone else who ended up failing to put stuff in "sneakily" and decided it was a good idea to try and make shit fall down to be good "business". Guess what Gen 4 is going to be? OMFG WTF BBQ AMAZING EXPANDED MEMORY WE LURVES YOU APPLEZ!

Wait... you're commending Sony on that piece of garbage known as the Memory Stick? Sony is even worse than Apple when it comes to using proprietary connectors, memory, and other bullshit to force consumers to keep using their product. MS Duo can go die in a hole somewhere. I'm sorry but I refuse to buy Sony cameras because I don't want to be forced to buy another Sony just because I was locked into their overpriced Memory Stick. What is so wrong with using a standard SD card like EVERY OTHER MANUFACTURER?

And yes I am a little angrier than I need to be because I had to buy a MS Duo for my PSP while everything else I use is SD.

No... I'm saying Sony actually has new shit. Apple does not. Apple stopped inventing like... 15 years ago. We might all hate sony, but we can't deny they have stuff that is original.

Nothing Sony does is original. They just improve on existing ideas, which sounds a lot like the company that you despise so much.

Sony:
PS3 = New PS2 = New PS1 = New SNES = New NES = New Atari = New Pong = Actual Invention

Apple:
iPhone = Phone + iPod = New mp3 player = New CD Player = New Tape Player = New Record Player = New Radio = Actual Invention

Sony doesn't invent, they innovate... just like Apple. I love Sony products, I also love Apple products. I guess I just don't get the Apple hatred in this thread.

Except Apple skipped everything and just jumped into the phone area. While Sony has been around in almost all levels of technological innovation. (Remember random stuff like Betamax and current Blu ray?)

True, much of everything is innovation, but Sony does go a step further unlike Apple which uses common things.

I don't think innovation is a problem for Apple. When Apple does something, they tend to do it better or if not better, in style. Apple has some of the best user interface implementations I've seen.

My only problem with Apple is that they tend to screw their customers--like making their products obsolete after a few years. And their fanboys.

I would have to disagree on the PS3 = new ps2 =new PS1.

Although the concept is the same the whole architect of the PS3 is totally different from the ps2/ps1. They did not keep with the same tech they went out and tried to improve on it with the new cell chip. So they invented gaming on the power cell.

No no... people want to shoot it down. It's an INNOVATION to gaming.

The iPhone on the other hand is brand spanking new shit.  ::) ::) ::) ::)

Umm...
Maybe you wanted to say PS3=PSP+PS2 since some features(menu etc)are exactly like the PSP.Also,as far as I remember,Sony coppied the old game-controllers from Nintendo.
Also,iPhone is a Innovation for phone gaming only. And not that much of innavative as well...

The IPhone is great, but when i buy something, i usually don't want something that 20 million other ppl will have as well(prone to getting stolen).
Plus i don't think i can forgive myself on spending $200 CAD + contract on a phone when my service providers locks you away with expensive 3 yr contracts and locking half your functions away until you pay for them. Data plans aren't cheap too. It is a lil on the large side as well, it can compete with my calculator.
I dunno if apple finally put in that drag n drop, but thats a personal taste. Its kinda like, given one i'll love it, would i buy one with money, probably not.

I myself dont even think of the gui. Its also used in the tv's, bluray players, and sound systems. Nothing besides the menu is the same. cant get to far away from a controller. You hold it in two hands. and play there is not really that many combinations you can use. That is just nit picking at something.

And the iphone was not the first innovation in gaming. Nokia has had many gaming phones. Look at the n-gage from 2003. Although the market did not fair well. its was the first true gaming phone.

It was Sony and Phillips that invented the compact disc. Sony and Toshiba that Invented the DVD.

iPod = upgrade to the walkman..

and then to everyone pissed about Pro Duo Memory sticks.. the PSP Go! uses microSD.
