Except Apple skipped everything and just jumped into the phone area. While Sony has been around in almost all levels of technological innovation. (Remember random stuff like Betamax and current Blu ray?)

True, much of everything is innovation, but Sony does go a step further unlike Apple which uses common things.
dont forget minidisk

and lets not forget was it phillips that made the compact disc ?

It was Sony and Phillips that invented the compact disc. Sony and Toshiba that Invented the DVD.

iPod = upgrade to the walkman..

and then to everyone pissed about Pro Duo Memory sticks.. the PSP Go! uses microSD.
Also,the too of them(or Sony and Panasonic)made Blu-ray disks...

And about BluRay... Apple is part of the BluRay Consortium which developed BluRay. Sony did not "invent" BluRay, it was a group of companies. Sony has supported BluRay more than any other company, specifically by putting a BluRay drive in the PS3, but that does not mean it solely invented BluRay.

Again, I love Sony. I have bought every gaming device they have made, I have a 57" Sony HDTV, and when I recommend a Windows based computer it is normally a Sony product (they seem to not put as much crap on them as other manufactures). I just don't get how anyone can claim that Sony is some great inventor while Apple is a crap company. They both make consumer products, and they both excel at what they do (well except for those shitty Sony Ericsson phones...) . What's so wrong with that? Erickson

^that is not true.. Sony and Pioneer invented Blu-Ray.. the consortium was just there to establish copyright protection formats (aka AACS).

Which for anybody with half a brain is a massive downgrade.  M2 might be selling for about the same price as mspd, but it's imposible to make a microsd to M2 adapter, while microsd to mspd adapters are dirt cheap and work really well.  No more $80, 32gb diy memory sticks

The go is a piece of shit anyways. Go for classic PSP.

BACK ON TOPIC THOUGH...

Sony Phones use M2. Though it's not as big of an issue because you only need the cheap 2GB module for basic stuff anyways. Most people don't take hardcore pics with their camera phones... do they?

And if you shop around, M2 can be had for just a little more than microsd.  Mspd is twice as much as sd.

SD is dirt cheap though. But isn't mspd faster than SD?

My class 4 microsd card is faster than my sandisk mspd cards.  Although the dual slot mspd adapter, loaded with 2 16gb class 2 cards, writes faster than the real mspd, but reads quite a bit more slowly.

the only reason i'd like a Go is because it seems easier to carry around with you.. plus the PSP's that i have are the Crisis Core and the Dissidia PSP and i don't like carrying those around for fear they'll get fucked up.

So you want to pay for a piece of shit to treat like a piece of shit? That's idiotic. Scared of fucking it up? Buy a used PSP and fuck that up.

Used psp 1000 - $75
Premade pandora - $5
Dual microsd to mspd adapter - $5
2 x 16gb microsd - $80
1 hour to install CFW.

$165 for a 32gb psp which can play any psp or psx iso you care to throw at it, legal or otherwise.

And when 32gb microsd rolls around, $5 gets you another dual slot adapter to give you a 64gb psp.

If you don't like downloading ripped isos, it takes about half an hour to rip them yourself.  Sony is many years too late to take advantage of this market.  Maybe if they had offered downloadable games back when the system dropped, and had a significant number of psx isos for $5 each, then they would have made some money.  Of course they would also need to permit download and storage to a pc, something they seem adamantly opposed to, no matter how easy it is to obtain pirated copies of the same games.

Sony has some cool concepts, but many times they truly don't know how to capitalize on them. With the hacks that were showing up when the PSP first showed up, that thing had the prowess, capabilities and platform that could easily have supported a very good multiplatform entertainment system. It didn't happen.

Now with the Vaio P... People are going to pull ahead and build things BETTER than the Vaio P. Sony takes a step forward and are ahead, only to have everyone stampede 3 steps ahead with Sony following close by, then the cycle repeats. Sony needs to make good of their experience with the Vaio P to make a phone that can actually blow the pants off the iPhone. (Yes, my feeble attempt to bring this long thing back on topic)

I'd buy Go, but their choice of a different memory stick was very fucking stupid.
