Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Nikran:
I ain't played the game, only seen the anime and he was so retarded during the frist half it was shocking. yeh he got better, but then again since it was physically impossible to become more retarded then he was his only option aside from remaining a retard was to become less of a retard. "People die if they are killed," reflects his level of intelligence perfectly =P
Though yeh, your right, I don't know the whole story (Only the animes side of things) since i ain't played the game. If Shirou is some kinda great protagonist in the game then his anime counterpart went horribly wrong somewhere :P

What, exactly, is arbitrary about it? Did you read the thread?
Oh, I don't know, the way you reply to anyone that says they like it with saying that it's pure shit?
--- Quote from: xShadow on July 20, 2009, 08:44:58 PM ---"If you've watched "this", "this", and "this", then this has a lot of cliches and I'm arbitrarily putting it down as a "piece of shit"."

"Ok". Let's have a quick glance at some of the issues here:
* Poor dialogue - as evidenced by character interaction. The exposition hell / information dump reitering is a crude device at best.
Examples. I liked the dialogue.
* Art direction - character design adaptation aside, the animation is paltry at best (glitches nonwithstanding...)
I don't mind the animation. I like it. Hell, from watching that youtube clip you gave me, I don't really see how it's that much worse than Higurashi...
* Premise - And Then There Were None meets Faust. Yatta, I guess.
I've never read/watched any of those. Do I give a shit?
* Nondescript menagerie - While this will (hopefully) change curing the cycles, when was the last time you encountered such a bland cast?
Bland? I generally only watch high rated stuff (8+ rated), and I didn't mind the cast here at all. They seem like you normal little horror flick cast, sure, but hell if I mind.
* Poor acting - from the clearly disturbed child to the self-proclaimed information dump and the lackluster reactions of the cast, it's just lacking.
Lmfao. Acting? Now we're describing the acting performances of characters in an anime. This is just funny.
* Grating details - where Higurashi shone in the little details, Umineko does the reverse, from the epigraph to the "dramatic" announcement of imminent doom followed by flashing lightning.
I like that. Maybe you don't.
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJXMCJaZO1g - ok, so that one's below the belt ;)
Hmmm? She's a strange little kid, sure. I don't see anything other than that, and I don't give a shit.
--- Quote from: xShadow on July 20, 2009, 08:44:58 PM ---Hell, what the fuck is so strange about Higurashi? "A bunch of people go crazy and kill each other. If you've seen this other thing where a bunch of people go crazy and kill each other, then this is cliche, and it sucks".
--- End quote ---
Yes, because Higurashi was all about the graphic violence. Honestly.
You obviously missed the point of my argument.
--- Quote from: xShadow on July 20, 2009, 08:44:58 PM ---"Y'know, this whole world conquest thing that they're doing in Code Geass has been tried several times in history! Fucking boring!"
--- End quote ---
What - the - flying - **** does Code Geass have to do with this?
Enough for me to quote it.
--- Quote from: xShadow on July 20, 2009, 08:44:58 PM ---I don't mind a little cliche with obscure western movies/novels that I apparently never heard of.
--- End quote ---
Christie is an obscure author? I guess that makes Hitchcock obscure as well. Who, I wonder, qualifies as a renowned author then? Steven King? ::)
Obviously, because I've actually heard of him and I haven't heard of either of those.
--- Quote from: xShadow on July 20, 2009, 08:44:58 PM ---Hell, I'm sure Japanese people don't either, considering they're... y'know... Japanese. I don't think it's a poor offering by the studio, I think it's just one that isn't really as suited for a western audience... which isn't surprising, considering it's first and foremost made for Japanese otaku, not us.
--- End quote ---
Wait, Japanese have different tastes? This day is just full of fascinating revelations. I guess I must've missed a moeblob or two.
... Again, you missed the fucking point.
--- Quote from: xShadow on July 20, 2009, 08:44:58 PM ---Apparently most of the anidb crowd shares my hopes for this show getting better sooner or later... or maybe they don't even mind it at all as it is now. I know I don't particularly mind it.
--- End quote ---
Oh for crying out loud. Next you'll be linking to 4chan...
Anidb is an anime community, and it's full of plenty of people that have watched more anime than YOU have. Go fucking link me to anime planet or some bullshit and I'll tell you the same thing.
--- Quote from: xShadow on July 20, 2009, 09:25:04 PM ---...
Go fucking get a clue.

I take it eloquence isn't your forte. Odd as it may seem, inserting various forms of fuck in every other sentence doesn't make your argument any stronger.
I'm eloquent to people that deserve an eloquent argument. He deserved a fucking beatdown. Got it? Good.
--- Quote from: anerph on July 20, 2009, 09:38:50 PM ---I have already watched the OP and ED a couple hundred times because they are so epic. I usually pass by the part with Maria screaming and rewatch it along the way. I honestly have no idea why I like that part, but I do. I really want these OSTs.
--- End quote ---
Aye, the OP especially is great. I'll probably scoop those up once released.

Replies in bold.

If you play the game, you'll understand why the anime was put together. That's why we say the anime should have been done in like 50 episode sequence. But talking shit about a character when you merely know who he really is to others who know whom he is, ... seriously dude. Play the visual novel through Fate arc, even Fate arc won't be enough. UBW pretty much is ALL about Shirou.
I'll tell you what, you may never play the game so for the hell of it ... Archer is Shirou, he's older in age and is a Heroic being and is considered to be favored by many, many people. Shirou learns a lot from Archer, and Shirou is a separate being from Archer as he defines himself perfectly in UBW, a little in Fate arc, and Heaven's Feel. <-- Read that.

Path, while I appreciate your effort, please don't feed the troll. And someone warn him already, it's getting tiresome.
...
I don't think Battler is the dumbest protagonist ever, not by a long shot. And while I've not seen the Fate/Stay Night anime yet, is all that you wrote in the spoiler really omitted from anime? Weird. I don't think Shirou was particularly smart in the game though, but that's only because he served as a vessel for some of Nasu's pseudo-philosophical ramblings. Other then that, he was pretty okay. But that's a discussion for another topic.

Troll, huh? I don't particularly see how I was flaming YOU in particular. I used the word fuck a gratuitous amount of times, but it was a testament to how much you annoyed me. If you wanna call me a troll, I can call you the same, because you incited that out of me with the way you were posting. Great job on the classification.
