Why not play the games now?
I stick to a policy of only playing one VN at a time, and I'm preoccupied with Kanon now.
You two suck, she's my favorite character so far. =<
She's probably your favourite character because she's the only character so far with anything resembling personality, no matter how annoying she might be. Truth be told, I don't really dislike her, but I still fail to care about her.
I'll still continue watching this show though, for either hope of improvement or just trainwreck kind of entertainment.

Having watched the first episode, I'm on the fence for this one; I want to like it, since the first season of Higurashi was a positive surprise (nevermind that the second season was criminal in comparison), and the contemporary scene needs strong series after some dire months, but this is so far a disappointment. The OP managed to get me in the mood, but the rest... I couldn't quite shake the feeling that I was watching some bizarre Japanese take on And Then There Were None (the epitaph didn't help...), a premise right out of Faust and a loli that managed to set my teeth on edge (and here I thought uguu~and gao were annoying... I'm still inexperienced  :'( ). The protagonist is somewhat nondescript as well, but that's not unusual for series of this type, and they could've spent more than three seconds on his name... I trust that this will run for 2x episodes, as the vast menagerie will need some fleshing out, so perhaps things will get better.

Still, I can't quite shake the unease that the first episode managed to stir up; while I'm reasonably certain that this can't be too cliché, the elements are all there. An aging patriarch about to receive judgment for making a bargain with the "devil" (witch), his scions about to pay the price for it, an unstable loli just waiting to snap/turn schizofrenic/be possessed by said witch and go on a rampage, etc. If the loli starts to display a completely different personality Rika-style, I might just scream.

There's something about the gg release that lacks a certain shitness that speedsubs tend to have.

Right, right.

Anyways, my original point was that it was released fast.

Back to Umineko...

I actually fast forwarded past the scenes with that little girl being the only person on screen. I got so pissed off with the noise.

sounds like this little girl and her 'Noise' ain't doing well compared to Rika and her Nipaaaa!

Hmm, if it sounds bad when she's just being normal just think what will happen if she ends up being getting murdered? Worse yet tortured to death =P On the bright side if u can get past such an event without cutting your ears off then peeps can look forward to never hearing her again =P

Rika never seemed to go off on a seizure of Nipaaa's so it isn't quite the same.

Ok, I'm reaching my limit. I was planning to wait 6 months (or however long it will take) for this to be completed before I watch it, but now I am thinking I will just watch the first episode now, because I have to hear these noises.
I mean, there must be something to this that just can't be explained in words. Everyone who has watched it is just going on and on about them, but I can't understand how they could be much different than other well known trademark noises (uguu~ and gao and the like). Sure, I keep seeing uuuuuuuuuuu and aaaaaaaaaa and such, but I can't really imagine what is going on with it. Does this character just constantly make some long vowel noise (constantly as in nonstop, as if it were how she breathed)?
Yeah, I'm just gonna have to watch it...

uguu and gao sound strange but pleasant. uuuuuuuuuuuuuu and aaaaaaaaaaaaa are just high pitched and penetrating, argh!!

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

Just watch this.

O.O
It just occurred to me that there is only one episode so far, which means that all that has to be jammed into 20 minutes! I don't really think those are quite as drawn out as everyone is transcribing them to be, but maybe that is just how gg did it or something...

Hmm... also, from observing that, although I have watched other vidoes using umineko in the last few days, I just noticed that this series seems to be severely lacking in something that was one of the best aspects of Higurashi: Awesome green-haired people! Seriously, Mion and Shion's hair is just too awesome...

Now i fully appricate why her mum tried to beat her up. If maria has been doing that for years her mum is prolly prone to bouts of insanity whenever she hears that noise.

I thought the first episode was pretty good. Gonna take me forever to figure out who is who though, with such a gigantic cast.

And Maria... yeah. Annoying as hell, but not so bad that I want to strangle her or anything. Long as she cuts down on the noises, I'll enjoy the series. If not... I hope she's one of the first to get whacked (and I don't mean by her mother)!

That ought to become less of a problem overtime, though, if you catch my meaning. (Then again, I haven't seen it yet, so I don't even know how frequently people get killed... Or at least I don't know if someone has already been killed. Don't tell me, though, I'll watch it! I'll watch it!)

On another related note, URGHHH! Want to follow a few summer series, but also prefer to watch entire shows at once. I can't decide when I should pick up shows like this and Spice and Wolf II and anything else I decide to follow...
