Umineko no Naku Koro ni

Just finished ep 02... It's still ridiculously bad. But people die, so I'm happy. Kinda expected that they'll be killed off in smaller portions, but I guess it's better that way.
This episode laugh out loud moment: When what's-his-name announces he will die tonight, and lighting flashes in the background. Can you say cliché?
Also, I wonder if there's even one person that expected Shannon to

Haha, this episode was pure gold. I ddin't actually think they'd manage something so cliché, but I guess one should never take anything for granted.

(click to show/hide)About the only thing I didn't explicitly expect was the bloodbath; six people killed in one night? I'm assuming the VN had a wealth of exposition leading up to this, because this is just crude and pointless, since no one will care one whit for any of these characters. The /facepalm moment when George confessed to Sayo (the servant) was just too much. The loli turned out to have the exact role everyone no doubt predicted, so we'll have to live with the uu~~.

It feels a bit like watching a "dramatic" re-take on a Christie novel (And Then There Were None comes to mind again, sighs), but to be honest I chuckled at that; I'm fairly certain it was included as a homage of sorts, since no one can possibly find it dramatic.

I doubt it. Unless the whole series would be a homage. It's seriously weird; I rewatched Higurashi recently, and the direction, while not perfect, was noticeably better. And it's directed by the same guy.
It's not only direction; writing is bad, dialogue in some parts is simply abominable. Oh, and I want to punch the guy who adapted the character designs for anime.
But still, I'm enjoying this anime, just because it's so bad it's good.

The occult overtunes notwithstanding, that's what I initially took this to be; how else could you explain the abundance of clichés and worn-out devices? If there was something more to it, shouldn't the team have been able to make better use of the VN? I'm now tempted to grab it in an attempt to make sense of the choices made with this production.

Huh, it is. That's just depressing. For all the flaws of Higurashi (specifically the latter season), it was a solid production.

(click to show/hide)Any takes on who the deceased are? Sayo and Jessica's father (Klaus?) obviously, but who else? Stands to the reason that the protagonist's drama queen father is one of them, but that still leaves three. Maria's parents, perhaps, since going against the loli is never a good idea in these shows.

(click to show/hide)Sayo/Shannon, both of Battlers parents, Jessica's father, Maria's mother, and Gohda, right?
