Is there any real point to this OVA series? I seem to recall that the TV series was pretty much wrapped up (click to show/hide)(shitty sci-fi ending and all).

Again, the OVAs appear based on material from the game that was cut from the anime. (click to show/hide) As such, there clearly won't be a continuation of the plot as such, as that followed the game. If you have no interest in the characters outside of the plot, then no, there is no point to it.
