I recommend Chaos;Head took me a while to get it working too.  Vista didn't like the installer the patch uses.  Then again the patch itself isn't entirely complete cause the group translating it dropped it.
May I ask how you got it installed on Vista so I can install it without major problems when I get it?

The main problem I had was getting the stupid patch to install.  I tried everything, then found it would work perfectly if the game was installed in some place other than C:\Program Files such as the desktop in my case.  Ran the patch and everything went smoothly.  I tried running it as administrator, but realized Vista was pissy about adding files even under administrator privileges.

The patch itself is fine.  Quite a few dropped sentences but I could careless.  Whole lot better than the anime though.

My current problem is when I start the game nothing pops up, however I can see it in my Processes (and the game won't close when i try to end the process).  Has anyone had a similar problem like that?

Chaos;Head? What locale are you in? It has to be Japanese or else it won't start properly iirc.

What OS are you running? I've run it in XP SP3 (w/o applocale, I actually changed my locale) with no problems. If I get a chance I'll install it on here and give it a whirl.

Edit: I'd try actually changing your locale to see if it works.

I did try that once, but I must have done something wrong...  Should I change the local before installing?

Yes, I believe that is one of the things you need to do for it to work at all.

Edit: However, you might just want to wait for me to install it on this machine. No point in uninstalling and re-installing unless you're in a rush.

Might wanna put KgNE in the back then, but ... if you want some strong cliffhangers ... Yea, KgNE is the way as if you seen the anime, the visual novel is about 10 x heavier, more content to fill, and to keep you dragged until you finish it.

I might go for KgNE in favour of Kanon for the sake of variation; while I like Key, there are some devices that I could lvie without.

I am still trying to figure out, why Tear of Tiera had Eroges scenes in the game. WHY!!!!!!! They should have work on the Game engine more!!! THe combat needs more!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm just gonna give up on the terminology now :'( Really though, the combat is just there to fluff things up; unless you're playing on the highest setting you can basically go through the game with close to no mercenaries while relying on auto-battle, and even on impossible you just need to level a bit. Utawarerumono is a much better game, sadly.

Edit: I'd try actually changing your locale to see if it works.

+1. OT, I'm torn whether I should applaud your taste or view you as a competitor; first Kagami and now Hitagi? ;)

I think I have a thing for the purple hair. Kyou is another favorite of mine. Hitagi is just too awesome though. After only 3 episodes, she's become one of my favorite characters.

Back on topic. I seem to have the translation patch, but it appears I've misplaced my actual game install. Ahhh, found it. I'm about to go to sleep though. Update tomorrow if someone else can't confirm whether or not you need to have your locale changed when you install.

-Imagines having sex with Kyou ... having her do "this ... and "that"- ....... Wait ... ? What?!

Purple is awesome. It's an elite color. And Kyou is freaking awesome! Her and Tomoyo and ... and Kotomie! (What was her name again?)

I've finally gotten the game to start (oddly enough with no translation setting changes or anything of the sort), however for some reason it won't let me start the game.  Whenever I click Start game it just goes back to the main menu ???

edit: ok fixed that problem too, only thing is I think it was my translation patch that was causing it -_-

If your talking about Clannad then go to the thread in Anime section, also PM me so I can send you an extra packet of patches (one patch of course) to install. This patch will translate ALL the menus into English.

Sadly It was Chaos;Head that I was talking about.  However I wouldn't mind trying Clannad too, especially since I just finished the anime

Send me a PM of which version patch you're using. (and a link to whichever source so I came make sure we're using the same one) I remember getting the looping to the start menu problem, I'll have to try to recreate it. I found my install last night.

I'm almost certain you won't be disappointed. I just recently set Clannad on the back burner while I play the Umineko visual Novel. The music is epic.

Maybe I should jump in as well and try FS/N?
Got it sitting around just waiting for me to rub my hands on it.
