This is one of my favorite animes, and it has been for a long, long time since KgNE and Scrapped Princess times. There is a TV series, a 3 episode OVAs and about 4 extra specials that last 10-15 minutes each (and they cover certain dark areas in the TV series; questions that never were answered, are answered in the extra specials).

If you have not seen this anime, I encourage you to see it. It is similar to Fate/Stay Night with less Fantasy (a lot less) and has a good/outstanding drama and romance.

Yes, this is the next Visual Novel I am targeting. So if you wanna join me in the Visual Novel, watch the anime first. I'll post sometime next week and ask people to PM for the game but that won't happen anytime now or (probably) this weekend. =] Watch the anime first.

My favorite character is Minamo Narukaze. She's so -nose bleeds-.

So who else seen this anime or played the Visual Novel?

I've had it on my hdd for donkey's years now...it may even be my oldest downloaded anime still on the computer.
Will watch after I finish Strawberry Panic (ftw!

) and report in on it...

i'll jump on board here. I don't know If i'll have time to play the game since I still have to finish up F/S night, but i'll definitely pull down the Anime.

Which is on Baka Here - Or that is atleast the one i'm guessing you are talking about.

I'll give you my opinion on it after I finish watching Str.a.in

After you spoke more about this one,it actually seems a lot better.Surely I'm going to be watch it.

Truthfully, i find Tatsujin to be exaggerating about the anime. When i watched it, it looked to me more like a normal harem show( with only 2 girls ) with a little drama. This is only my point of view. And some factors that may have influenced my judgment can be that i have watched almost every harem show possible( barring the shows from last year ) and i find similar shows to be really boring.

There are boring shows. Your opinion only matters to the viewers and it's the viewers that'll experience it and judge it. I like this series and regardless, as stated and I'm not exaggerating ... I merely stated my opinion. Avoid this thread if you are going to argue any further.

I am playing the visual novel. I'm sure the visual novel is deeper than the anime.

So, I watched the first 2 episodes of this, and I have to say the animation is getting to me.

The characters look like they a squeeky clean, and it is annoying me. I feel like i could throw mud on them and it wouldn't stick. Maybe a teflon coating or something IDK. Just an observation.

Hmm... By all accounts, this series looks quite average. It has the sorts of themes of which I am beginning to tire, there seems to be little to nothing unique about it... Until I scrolled all the way down the anidb summery page.

How come you didn't mention that the regular episodes are also 13 minutes each? Taking that into account, this series is really half a cool, plus a little extra, plus some OVAs. I did a little math, and when all the things add up, it comes out to about one full 12 ep cool.

Basically, that alone is enough to make me want to watch it. I happen to love the "half-half-series" or "half-cool" format (6 episode series, that is), which this matches in the context of its main portion. I also like the fact that while it has "extras" available (the specials and the OVAs), which are perfect for when you have watched the series and realized that you have become attached enough to it that you want some more, adding all of it together still doesn't represent more of a time commitment than a regular series.

So, between this intriguing format and Tatsu's high recommendation, I think I will watch this soon!

Yeah I found it odd that Tatsujin Recommended this too. But I'll watch it, and if i like it, i'll probably pick up the game too.

And don't Knock short series. W~Wish was pretty darn decent with 13, 12 minute Episodes. And the Opening song in it was fabulous!

Did you miss something in my post? I said I like series of this length and format. How did I "knock" them?
In fact, I like them so much, I am even looking up this W Wish thing you mentioned, solely based on its length.
Although... I do prefer the 6x23 minute format to a 13x12 minute format, I think... Although they both amount to the same thing, so it isn't really a big deal!

I found Wind to be too bland, really, but with a vested interest in harem series it's definitely worth watching.

Yes, that is what I mean. It is an alternative spelling, that's all. Maybe not the one you would use, but it seems valid according to some research we did on IRC with the Japanese Wikipedia...

I don't think I've ever seen anyone spell it like that. Technically you could romanize it like that, but it'd be weird since it's a French word to begin with. I'd suggest sticking to cour or kūru (クール), but I'd like to see these sources of you for reference; never hurts to learn new things.

Hmm... now you've got me thinking again... English Wikipedia only lists "cours" (with that extra (silent?) s in there), and "kūru" like you mentioned. I am not able to look stuff up in Japanese, so I can't find the page on the Japanese Wikipedia about it, but maybe the reason we determined it was valid was just because it was a valid romanization... "Cour" does seem to be the most common use, since I get the most relevant google results with it, so maybe I ought to switch to using "cour" or maybe "kuuru" now...

Ah, well, I probably didn't make it easier for you since I often lapse and simply write cour (where it should be cours, singular or plural). Cool is just... confusing though

went thorugh the VN many years ago, very good, the OVAs where abit meh, (if you've seen a alot of romantic series this would be in the middle)

Of the 4 13-ep/half-length VN-based series that aired in 2004 (Wind, W-Wish, HaniHani Operation Sanctuary, and Final Approach), I thought Wind was the best romantic drama, while Final Approach was the best romantic comedy. I'd put Wind in the same category as Da Capo and Gift Eternal Rainbow, as a series with "pervasive magic" that affects everyone in the characters' general area. There are some tired/clichéd parts, but it manages to put together some good drama when things get darker in later episodes.

As for what version to get, the SS release that I uploaded BBT is just fine. Plus, it's the most convenient way to get the DVD-only eps, which you definitely need to watch to fully understand things.

I'd certainly be up for a playthrough of the game, as I've never played it before.

Hmm... after doing a little more research, the VN itself also seems to be relatively short, so playing this would be a lot easier than that organized Clannad play through in the other thread.

Now the biggest barrier to me watching this is the fact that Anime-Planet, the site I use to track what I watch (over the more popular MAL because I don't feel like moving my list right now, although I may someday), doesn't have an entry for it! That's ok, though, since once I watch it I can take some screenshots and write a summary for it, and I will be able to submit that to the site for inclusion in the database.

So, yeah, I am thinking this sounds like fun after all.

Also, I hadn't realized there were so many anime of this length and format. I had previously done searches on Anidb, MAL, etc., for anime with a low number of episodes (4-8, approx), but it hadn't occurred to me to look for anime with half length episodes. I'm definitely going to be looking for more good anime with either this format or the 6x23 format...

EDIT: I have obtained this anime and I am watching it now. First impression is that the animation is laughably cheap. There is overly present CG that looks awful. I haven't seen any start of the story yet, though, so hopefully that will get interesting. I mean, once I have some more idea about what is going on, I will naturally like it better, right?

So, i finished this one after picking it up and putting it down 3 times over the past few months, i decided to put it to rest in the past 2 days.

I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5. It was ok, the animation really just kept me off balance. It would be pretty good one minute then the next look like shinny little plastic figurines. bobjoe is pretty much spot on with his depiction. The story was all well and good, there just wasn't much meat there. It left me feeling like there is something a little more to be desired out of this one.

I do have to say the premiss is really good, and I bet the VN is pretty good. I just feel it didn't trasnfer over to an anime very well in the way it was produced. I bet if you go through the VN it is much more enjoyible.
