Simoun (i think its a little underrated)
« on: July 14, 2009, 05:33:20 AM »
i think i was recommended this a long while ago (like 2 er 4 weeks) for some nice yuri.
i remember a post saying "watching simoun is like watching to people who like each other walk down the street holding hands. You know they like each other you can see the love, but you cant feel the love."
Im on episode 19 and through out the series you can definitely feel the love.
(click to show/hide)

its visually appealing like watching an animated painting the story is pretty good so far, although at the point of the story im in strange unexplained shit is happening. the yuri is there at times although it starts off pretty light, it goes hard later.
i think its a good romance/mech/yuri story and I recommend it for those categories!
tatsujin thx!!( for nothin! ) thanks Sebur for the SIG!

I think so as well, it was a series I liked quite a lot. The group that subbed it did a spectacular job as well.

It probably depends on how much you get to care about the characters if you like it or not. Since they are the primary focus.

It was most likely one of my recommendations.  I haven't seen anybody else pushing it.

I guess I've always found the concept of a single sex society interesting after reading The Left Hand of Darkness 15 years ago.

It also satisfies my craving for high fantasy/space opera in a way that no mecha anime ever could.

Single sex society? Not really. They had to choose a sex at 15(or 16).A choice.A very important one.If you would have to make this choice I'm guessing you would think about it very much.So much that the differences between man and woman would be concrete, solid and not borderline like  they,us,are trying to make it in our society.Sure the end result were always manly women and womenly men...Anyway,The gender thing was a big issue because once you'd have chosen a sex you officially joined society as a member.

Btw,I was the one that said that thing about friends and I'm sticking with it.Where's the flirting, the seduction, the giggles(oh wait, there were some of these),the small things that mean so much?
As far as I can remember they all knew each other(except the new girl ofc),had a friendly attitude towards each other. The relationship did not grow, the characters did and with it did the relantionship evolve. It either turned sour or sweet,it doesn't matter. There were very long moments of "wtf is wrong with her?" where I would just sit and wonder what is taking  so long for girl X to notice or to acknowledge the feelings of girl Y when X was clearly into her and vice versa.

I repeat, the anime was great.Loved the animation, sound was meah, the plot was interesting to put it mildly with the war,the internal struggle ie politics, the religion.I realised how dumb I was,am when I noticed the connection between their god Tempus-Spatima with...yeah,time-space at about ep 20.Yep,I'm slow :P
Anyway, the whole time-travel thing is brilliant. The really surprising thing is that they managed to put all of this^^ in a character driven anime.Great job!
The bad about it is:too much was cramed.I can't recall any of the character names or traits.Where? When?Who?Why?and With who?

I'm happy for you if you like this anime and can feel it.That was the point of watching it,neh? I unfortunatly was disappointed.

I was referring to left hand with the single sex comment.  Everyone is hermaphroditic.  The idea of choosing one's gender is what is shared between the two, although in the book, it's not a permanent choice.
