An anime that hit alittle to close to home.
Jesta23:
This post will contain indirect spoilers for toradora, read on at your own discretion.
I usually do not like this genre of anime, in fact, im not even sure how or when i downloaded it. I stumbled across it on my hd and i was bored so i gave it a look.
I have to say, it is by far the best anime of its type, and one of the very few romantic comedies that i have enjoyed.
Back to the point, About 2 years ago, a new employee started at my work.
It was not long before we were spending most of our time together.
I learned that she had packed up and moved alone from washington to utah in an attempt to get away from an abusive relationship.
About 6months after we met, she came in to work and gave me a hug which seemed to last forever. With out saying a word, I thought something was up, but i didnt say anything.
The next day my friend told me he had given her a ride to the airport to go back home.
She never said a word to me about it, unlike toradora, I never saw her again.
At the end when taiga left, It hit so close to home i have been depressed for the last few days for only the second time in my life. The first time being the weeks after I found out she left.
Anyway, enough rambling, if you have passed over toradora i would highly rec. it. It is well worth the time to watch :)
And yes, when i first read the name I was thinking it sounded really dumb and childish. But its not :D
Has anyone else had a real emotional impact from an anime before?
pps: I hate the new website name... could you possibly have been more generic?

No offense but when you're talking about Toradora, why not in the appropriate topic?

The mods already said no.

I guess the point of the thread was lost in my ramblings.
I was asking if anyone else has had an anime impact their lives, and not just a form of entertainment.

Well, I think that http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=17877.0 is the place you are looking for.

I expected that Toradora would be extremely popular as the series ended, but even still think it's under-rated. Toradora is a show that I can show to non-otakus, which I did and they quite enjoyed it.
It was great how it handled some real life problems near the end. I too ran away from home when I was young. And for silly reasons, like thinking it would be better on my own. The words used that hurt his mother touched close to home too.
A recent series that brought not so good memories is Kanememo. It's a comedic slice of life show. But they work delivering papers. I used to do that and hated it. Took the job on my own, and with it being the first, think I kept at it so not to be a quitter. Made extra spending money, but so not worth it.
btw, I swear it seems that third of the posters have turned into mods, and the other third are wannabees.
