Your 300 Million Dollars
« on: July 21, 2009, 07:23:03 PM »
You won the lottery ticket, or perhaps 300 million dollars appeared out of no where from an extremely rich old man telling you it is all yours. The point is, there is no time limit ... You don't do anything with the money for the first day since you were so shocked, you wake up the next day and check your bank account again and notice that the 300 million dollars are STILL there ...

What would you do with 300 million dollars?

First laugh maniacally  MUWAHAHAHAHA.

Then think about donating it to some random charity.....Then determine since I am an ass I am gonna keep it all selfishly.

Then buy myself the best computer money can buy (it'll be outdated in a week, but what do I care).
Buy a smexy car.
Buy a moderate sized house (3-4 million).
Buy one of those small yappy dogs, then kill it.  I can't stand those things.
I can't think of anything else...i'll edit later.

put the rest in banks and live off the interest.  No reason to work when my money will do it for me.

Arrange for a live in cook/cleaner kind of deal.

A few things off, one thing in.

Keep in mind that letting your money sitting there with interest, will actually benefit you a lot. I've seen accounts with 300,000 US dollars and they would generate over 3,000 dollars ALONE per 3 months (That's 12,000 per year!) before taxes. I believe they tax on Internet if I am correct.

So 300,000,000 would be about 3,000,000 per 3 months ... am I right? Lol. Someone correct me. I think I am wrong.

Bank interest isn't usually that high.  You could probably do some low risk investments and maybe get a yearly 7% return. 300 million, that's roughly 21 million a year.

Well first you will have to pay a 38% of it in taxes to the federal government, and for my state I would have to pay 13% State tax on it, so the question is what would I do with $147 Million dollars.

Donate 14.7% to different charities of my choosing
Invest 50 Million in a tax differend state trust LLC.
Invest 25 Million in Low yield mutual funds
Invest 25 Million in Property (Market is good right now)
Invest 15 Million in Gold
Invest 10 Million in High yield Stocks
Donate 5 Million to my alma marta Universtiy (hopefully that will come with a lifetime of football tickets and maybe my name on a building)
Divide 1 Million dollars between family and friends around 15,000 each (which I think is the highest tax differed gift for one year at the moment, I could be wrong with this)

Then I would blow the last 1.3 Million on stupid stuff Just cause I can.  Live off the interest, and continue to work at my current career field.  Because If i quite I would get bored!
I have typed these words and you have been forced to read them.  Now you can go cry in the corner if you like :)

I'm gonna buy ballistic missiles with it and do a reenaction of Eden of the East in the Middle East.  :P The fun part is trying to survive CIA's onslaught.

Buy a Missile Silo and set up that sweet underground base we had a discussion on in that thread about Missile Silos being sold on Ebay.

Interesting question...

Let's see:

Quit my job, flip off the boss, take my name off the payroll (no, just kidding about that)

Pay off my car
Pay off my house
Pay off my credit cards

Sink probably a quarter into some relatively low-risk bonds.

Take a US tour on both coasts.  Okay, maybe I would quit...business class train, first class flight.

I don't know if I would necessarily upgrade my house or car.  I could live mortgage-free and car-loan-free for several years.   Maybe upgrade my DSLR camera.  I love the one I have, but if I can afford to upgrade, why not?

Pay my parents back for every debt I can think of.  Hey, parent interest can sometimes be more unbearable than bank interest; mine do remind me of how they gave me money for a down payment on the house, but want me to wait until I sell this house before I pay them back.  If they change their minds, hey, I can afford it (course even now I probably could pay them back in installments).

lol they don't sell missile silos, they sell ballistic missiles, missile launchers, plutonium, and an implosion device. It might take some effort to put them together, but it's not impossible. 300 million dollars will suffice. But I think I'd rather buy nine thousand conventional missiles from Iran or China than just one or two nuclear missile... nine thousand will be enough to save Earth and save mankind.

Complete my collection of current gen video game consoles, buy a high-end laptop, get a better Internet connection, and then continue to live at home while sitting on the rest so I'll never have to risk the need to leave my room.

I probably wouldn't keep it in a bank either, there is no security for amounts that large in case the bank folds. :/

With amounts of that kind you can get decent rates on banks if you lock the money, they use your money to invest and if it is a lot they can gain a lot. Anything over ~2-3% would be profit, the other part would be to retain monetary value versus inflation.

Well, this is what I would do.

First 10 million I'll waste to move to Japan, with a big freaking house ... two houses. I'll invest 150 million somewhere to gain profit, that leaves me with 140 million. Waste couple of hundred of thousands to learn Japanese, or some sort of, while living in Japan. Build my own anime company (I'm serious) and get some of the best talented people, well close to so that's couple of other millions of dollars.

My other idea is, go buy a Viper, or a sweet ass ride. Get a big ass house, ... a really big freaking house (20+ rooms, etc). Big property. Hire couple of people to do fansubbing, and also hire couple of other people to translate visual novels. Yes, I'm serious about those. Mostly, to do the translating.

I couldn't even begin to spend that much. And the interest on the investments I'd make would more than set me for life. I'd definitely build a world class anime collection, probably tour Japan, I dunno.

Oh, I know. Full time cat eared maids. Heck yeah.

LOL classic. I would do as most others have said as well with the majority of the money, invest a hefty amount somewhere so I would be secure for the rest of my life while blowing a lot of it on mostly fun stuff. A few nice cars, couple houses around the world (including Japan) with amazing computers and technology all over, complete a massive collection of purchased boxsets and such haha. And somewhere in the splurging would be some handouts to friends and family.

Buy houses. With the real estate market going bad, they are cheap as shit. Pick one to live in, rent the rest out.

Then together with a friend to buy an old tanker ship and anchor it in international waters. Then I would hire people who would fetch some people from some really shitty countries in the coast of Africa (who don't have any id and can't prove any citizenship) and create a series of mortal games on that tanker. Of course the revenue would be made by gambling on the gladiators and other contenders. Games would be gladiator tournaments and other "gambling for life" games like bungee jumping where contenders have to guess the height and can pick a bungee rope of any length.... the one who comes closest to ground without dying wins.

Of course it would attracts some attentional internationally, but I think I could afford enough Jew lawyers to keep them off my back.

Yes this has been planned a long time ago.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?
