Has anyone scored more than 18k points in a hand before in online Riichi Mahjong? I've been playing for nearly a week straight, and I cannot, absolutely cannot score higher than 18k points. I've been only playing computers though. But I've played 100's if not 1000's of hands/rounds and I figure as much as I play, I should have at least had a couple breaking 20k. I was playing yesterday, and the computer hit me with thirteen orphans. 42,000 points of craziness. I don't expect to get that kind of hand, I'd just be happy breaking 20k once.

Are there any guides online for Mahjong strategy that someone would recommend? I think I'm at the point where I know enough to be using some kind of strategy now. Maybe that's my problem. (Yes I know I shouldn't be focusing on single large digit wins, but it's more for a "I did it" kind of thing.)

just finished watching it...unfortunately i didnt enjoy it as much

Kaiji just blew this game genre outta the park for me...nothing measures up...

the only thing that got me thru the last 8 eps...was komoro and haha and the way yuuki tries to get the blonde guys attention.

tbh there was no actual character Development in any of the characters ...except komoro...

the rest were the same through out the series...

oh yeah... maybe 1 other....saki saying she likes mahjon in ep2 i think...

pfft...

Hmm. Given the amount of 'main' characters in the show, I thought they did an excellent job of trying to give each character some depth and fill in a backstory for a good portion of them. I'm sure season 2 will expand on Saki, her sis, Nonoka and the rest of the team.

Anyone read the Saki manga? Any suggestions on if I should wait for season 2, or go ahead and dive into the manga?

I'd be willing to wait if they dont do the "wait a million years" thing that haruhi pulled out!

I don't have any dates, but at the end of the last episode, they pretty much said "here is what season 2 is gonna look like". Which means it's probably already been green lit by studios, and may be already in production. If I had to guess, I would say the usual 1 year wait, so at the earliest, Spring of 2010. Thus my dilemma on the manga. $:-\$

I blame the Haruhi delays on Kadokawa entirely.

Doh, was just watching that part over, and they say "much more to come" on the screen at the very end.

well i dont get why its censored then, or really what is. Someone mentioned something about no panties ?? Regardless i usually dont watch stuff thats cut, even a little bit. So unless anyone knows of/when an uncut version is out guess im missing this =(

I still dont really get WHAT was cut. Someone mentioned a kiss being blocked by an eel?

Eel thing is another series.

Well, it's standard censorship. The onsen/swimming episodes are censored as usual. I think a lot of people say that they do not wear panties is because we have never seen a skirt flipping up to guarantee a pantyshot throughout the series.

I'm ready for season 2....Haven't heard anything on the 2chan or otherwise, so doubt anything is going to happen this spring. Looking like fall 2010 at the earliest, if at all. They went way ahead of the manga and introduced characters not seen in the manga yet at the end of episode 25 so I'm thinking (hoping) it's not going to follow the manga, rather, the manga might follow the show.

i started playing for a week and then since i still couldnt understand anything i quit (i even ordered a set from ebay and printed the rules)
