14 or 15 was the beginning of Saki's match.

EDIT: Saki's match begins in the 2nd half of episode 15.

sdedalus83 was faster ;)

Oh okay then, in that case I don't know how they're gonna fill up the last 10 eps... The nationals? Don't think there's enough time for that...

I put it on hold at ep 12, since I wanted to marathon Nodoka's and Saki's matches.

I decided to start slowly watching this instead of waiting for the batch.

Second episode was pretty sweet! :P

Am I the only one who liked this more before the actual tournament? Somehow it had some form of strange charm before it became saturated with moeblobs. I feel for Kyōtarō though, being the only real male character in a series where one isn't really needed (or wanted, I guess).

Yes, Saki's game began in the 15th.

Doesn't the series hint at Yuuki wanting to get togheter with him? Thus serving a purpose, well that along with slave...

yeah tacos is really on his nuts.
especially in that earlier episode where
(click to show/hide)
i like the tournament episodes cus thats what the show is really about. even in between each set (or turn or w/e) things happen to develop the story. the last 10 episodes will probably be the cool down episodes where its more focused on saki and nodoka.
tatsujin thx!!( for nothin! ) thanks Sebur for the SIG!

"Hinting" is one term for it, I suppose; Yūki, err, tacos, clearly has a thing for him, but that doesn't change the fact that his existence is superfluous and outright jarring.

Isn't that the purpose of his character? Showing how out there everything is, making it even more comic and fan service like. Decreasing immersion for more fun?

I doubt there was ever a risk that anyone would become so engrossed in this as to require a counterbalance to detract from the immersion. While the concept of service is relative, the yuri theme should provide enough innuendo.

I have no idea what it is about this series, but I'm completely hooked. I thought it would be like K-ON, totally light and fluffy, which it is... but the matches so far are pretty intense (even though I can't really follow what's going on). There's more to this than just yuri and moe :P

Now only if episode 9 would finish downloading in this lifetime. It's being agonizing slow x.x

I could be wrong, but I think it's just the rules/scoring that are different. Not the pieces. I own a mahjong set myself. I JUST started to play some online Japanese mahjong. I'll let ya know how it goes when I learn :P

If anyone can find, or knows of a single player Mahjong game that you can buy/download that isn't solitaire or 'matching tiles', let me know heh.

If I'm not mistaken, there was something wrong with the way mahjong was played in both the anime and the manga which the author has admitted to be wrong.

If I remember correctly, that was a mistake in the art/drawing department, where Saki had 15 tiles in her hand (14 standing with one on top) when the maximum allowable should be 14 (13 standing, one on top). GONZO repeated the mistake in their animation, whether intentionally or not I don't know.

it was intentional, to make ppl who are actually into Mahjong rant and it still make em watch it XD

some versions have a veriaty of rules differences, scoring is different in british and chinese version, but the outcome is always the same in all versions tbh, l played MahJong a few years ago, if yo uwant to learn it properly get Shanghai Dynasty (old PC game) you can learn from there, it has a mix of Chinese and Japanese rules, you can play bot hat the same time or seperately, quickly you will notice there isn't that much of a difference, if l find that game l'll make a torrent of it, but try searching on isoHunt under "Shanghai Dynasty" or similar, newer versions should be avaible.

l say intentional cuz it would be stupid to make a mistake like that 2 times, l havent started watching yet.

who is doing the best TL/lowest screen taken job ?

So after a night of watching Saki, I'm all caught up. Can't wait to see how the tourney finishes. Koromo is just evil. This is making me want to learn how to play. >.>

@Havok10K: I'm following Underwater-Mahjong myself. Their release should fit your requirements nicely.
