See? It's the Internet's most trusted source for anime news. Clearly, there must be something wrong with you if you can't realise this. It is, after all, in the text.

never go there, rather use anidb / anime-planet
Yeah, but good luck finding detailed staff information there for anything other then popular titles.
i dont need a wall of text explaining the plot for me, all i want is 3 or 4 lines briefly telling me what the anime is about - nothing more.

You are misunderstanding. What they are talking about is the cast list, below the summary.

I just e-mailed ANN and told them "Just to let you guys know, you are the worst trusted anime site to view. Your the ugly face of our anime community." Lol.

Don't make me laugh. Unless you're using japanese wiki or something like that.

...I'll just leave that without comment. But we really do need a facepalm emoticon.

If the wiki has enough information for your purposes, then good for you. However, some people want/need more detailed information, and for that ANN's database is a good place for that information.

Personally, I find ANN pretty handy for finding information when making offers, though I don't ever really use it for news anymore. It's a good starting place for folks new to the anime scene, though.

AniDB implemented that, myanimelist.net ... what other websites do that as well? ANN is just another "tag" website on the bottom of my list page. I even have my download j-media with the anime sites for information and didn't add ANN on there, just because they suck that much and they're anti-fansub.

AniDB doesn't usually have complete information on a show (Missing director & production info on some shows, failed show descriptions, etc), and I don't use MAL.

Besides, I can understand not liking the site for various reasons, but... Sending them an e-mail? Needs more facepalm.jpg.

Ah, but take a look at where (English) wikipedia gets its information.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

I've looked through this page and I haven't found Komori from Major, which on ANN can be found

ANN certainly has one of the worst communities on the net. Never seen such a huge flock of ignorant, arrogant, buttkissing wiseasses before, at least not in the anime scene.  :P

I like a few of their colums, though. Like Buried Treasure or the X-Button (at least the portion that's about obscure old school games based on anime).

Someone explain to me why ANN "hates" fansubbers?

Are you people serious?  Anidb doesn't even come close to ANN.  There's no news of any quality, the ranking system is similar to ANN, but without as many options for sorting it or as many users, and it has about half the information of ANN.

Myanimelist is basically the same site as ANN, so I don't see how anyone could hate one and like the other.

ANN lacks all info on fansubs, thus it isn't usable for me. Anidb doesn't even try to do news, they are a database, not a news site. As for options on sorting, are we looking at the same sites? Then the information side, depends on what kind of info you want. Anidb did recently add in song, cast and a few other categories of information. Once those start filling up you will find that ANN lacks in information due to the limited scope of information they want. Will take a while though, all new projects do. (Hope they do a manga database as well as an anime.)

Mal is better than ANN from my viewpoint. It has more fansub info, still lacking compared to Anidb. ^^

ANN is still better than most anime related sites, it just lacks in fansub info, hentai (has it but lacking) and general feeling.

Just an example of a feature ANN lacks that AniDB has (that I actually use). How much of a series I've watched. If I for some reason stop watching a series in mid airing I tag that I have seen up to ep 2 for example.  The biggest lack is in cross-linking though. AniDB links to several other indexing sites (on each anime), almost none link back. :/

I loled real hard on this one.

AniDB posting news? Hell, the name doesn't even mention "News" unlike ANN.

Same here.
