Like I said, there isn't any male character. So to whom should they show their affection/overwhelming admiration?
Borror0, you're complaining that there's too much lesbians? XD we have our own preferences...
Wait...what?I don't understand your argument...Each and every event DID contribute to the story and the development of the characters and their bonds with eachother.

I like yuri, too, but there is a limit to how much I can turn my brain off. A school of lesbians is just too unrealistic for me to ignore. Quote from: cubensis55 on July 28, 2009, 05:06:36 PMWait...what?I don't understand your argument...Each and every event DID contribute to the story and the development of the characters and their bonds with eachother.Sorry, I'll try to be more specific. I guarantee nothing since I don't remember everything quite right. (click to show/hide)The Spica storyline was, overall, unpersuasive. Hikari admires Aname and falls deeply in love with her? Aname hears her sing and falls in love with her? Maybe, that might happen although it is unlikely. After that, there is no development between the two. They don't get to learn about each other all that much but Aname's love for Hikari is enough for her to present herself as Étoile? How so? It's something that was presented as nearly impossible. She repeatedly said that she would never participate in the Étoile competition. But, all of sudden, she is fine with it? Hmmm... Also, Hikari and Aname lack chemistry. They are pretty flavorless, one-dimensional characters (ie the shy girl and the idol) and seem only to be there to fill a gap. All in all, I view the whole arc to be a nuisance to the anime. Had the final story been Yaya-Hikari, I would probably feel different. I think Yaya could have made of Hikari a much more interesting character and less of a brainless fangirl. Talking about those two, the whole forced kiss thing is unexploited! It should have been. The Nagisa-Shizuma relationship was strong. They had chemistry. It's the only thing that kept me from dropping the series. But, there were very little interaction between the two for most of the anime. Nearly all the time, Nagisa was with her other friends. That's fine if it is to build the Tamao-Nagisa relationship for a better ending but that rarely, if ever, happened. I am trying to remember an instance were I can really say that it has brought them closer in any significant way but I cannot picture anything past their previous encounter. Can you?If the author had put more emphasis on the Nagisa-Shizuma relationship, I think it would have been a far better story. The two characters were interesting. Shizuma was mysterious and deep. Nagisa was innocent but not flavorless. You could believe the romance between the two. But, when it comes to the end, it feels as if everything is rushed. That may be partly because everything before was slow paced but it just felt as if Shizuma's background was pulled out of thin air. I can see the logic behind her actions. It's not preposterous. It's simply not built up enough for an ending. In the end, I realize that I am approaching this anime incorrectly. I was probably supposed to stop thinking and go "Moe!!^^"
There are, actually, reasons for most of the more obvious inconsistencies in the series. Unfortunately, unless you read the manga you'll never know, and as such it's hard to recommend the series to anyone looking for something beyond the yuri theme.
How would you rate the manga's story? If you believe it's a fairly solid story, I might give it a try.
On the whole, I'd be inclined to dissuade you. There are better series out there, unless you have a lot of free time.
Alright people, warp up these conversations and go watch Maria-sama for the sake of your Yuri-starvation.
Well I've watched both and now what the hell do I do!?What yuri can follow Strawberry Panic! and Maria-sama without falling flat.
while in aoi hana. . . its in a present normal society. . . where guys and girls date normally. . .but you have this totally lesbian chick. that makes her look even more lesbian!
