English Dubs

And the English voice is never, and I mean NEVER, going to sound right with the original voice of most of the characters. More so voice acting is no easy job to do. When the voice actor for Konata in the English dub of Lucky Star (Wendee Lee) gave her a real nasally voice, I actually applauded. It was perfect and actually what someone with a lifestyle like hers might sound like in reality.

keep in mind Japanese ppl treat voice acting extremely seriously, USand most other nations ppl don't treat anime industries very seriously, is why Japan is making huge money buckets off it ;] wich l am glad, l just wish the shipped their stuff worldwide, but l was please with GITS voice acting in english dubs, it was satisfactory, probably because they had no choice but to do a serious job, tough what thoey showed in that vidoe was quite funny, "shoot teh fish!"

And the Americans don't? That's complete BS right there. Japan makes "huge money buckets" off anime because it is created and aired there regularly. The Japanese DO ship their stuff world wide, it's why companies like Nozomi, FUNimation and ADV exist. They dub, or just subtitle (Nozomi) anime and release it to the western world.
Keep in mind that a lot of animation comes from the western world, as well. That animation gets dubbed in Japanese and is aired in Japan, as well. It's a global economy, and it shows. If you're a fan of the western voices for the animation Avatar, would you be disgusted by the voice change in the Japanese dub?
Oh yeah, before I forget. When you watch enough anime, you begin to see the stereotypical voice work done in Japanese dubs. I can tell you, straight off, that most of the voices in that trailer sound like 50% of anime characters.

If you claim to like English dubs then either you have only seen Japanese versions once or twice, or you don't understand English. Two words can explain the entire reason why English dubs suck so horribly: Mouth faps. In Japan, the animation is created around the voice acting, but in english dubs the voice acting is created around the animation. This means that the Japanese version gets to say anything they want for however long it takes them to say it, and they can make it natural as possible. English dubs, however, have to fit within the general mouth movements of the character. This means if the translation for what the character is saying turns out much shorter than the mouth movements extra words must be added in, and reversed when the translation takes longer than the mouth movements. In general, the English sounds overly forced or incredibly stupid, and the voice acting can sound choppy, or even too fast. What you end up with is robot sounding characters because they aren't speaking in normal everyday English. The whole dub ends up sounding like some terrible chinese kung fu movie. It would be exactly the same reasoning if the English created a cartoon and the Japanese dubbed it.

I'm not anti-dub, I'm just anti-sucky-dubs. I don't normally pay attention to them, but I've seen a few I like. I've even watched some that were so good I didn't even realize I forgot to switch to Japanese for multiple episodes. I've also seen many that were absolutely terrible. What really makes me wonder why anime dubs are so hit or miss, while normal every day cartoons are always done quite well.

Btw, English voice acting, and dubs for Anime, is a waste of time. I've never heard of Japanese dubs done on Anime ... because realistically, Anime is made in Japan (or is it Asia, like Korea as well?). Americans don't know how to make Anime, and it is called American Cartoons, not Anime. Open your dictionaries.

Its not like they couldn't make the same kind of shows that the japanese do if they tried to. Honestly stories and characters like in anime are not anything magical that only japanese or asians can do. Western cartoons differ from anime yes. Is it because we're incapable of doing the same? I don't think so.
