English Dubs
kurandoinu:
Meh. I tend to prefer the Japanese for most shows, unless I have watched the English first and am very used to it. But if the English is half decent and I'm busy with uni work I'll watch in English, means I can listen and still catch stuff it I can't see my screen.

Its not like they couldn't make the same kind of shows that the japanese do if they tried to. Honestly stories and characters like in anime are not anything magical that only japanese or asians can do. Western cartoons differ from anime yes. Is it because we're incapable of doing the same? I don't think so.

So your telling me they can make shows like uh ... lets see. School Days? Elfen Lied? Code Geass? Please man ... with the laws in the US, their small minds that doesn't wanna explore those areas, they won't even temper with that. And they think "Cartoons" are just made for kids, teenagers, and young adults. Take a look at their channels, filled with retarded shit.
I don't take Anime as "cartoons", rather it is Japanese animation. I like to use "animation" and "anime" whenever I refer to Japan's work.

Yes I agree that western cartoons are shit, but they are directed to different audience than anime is. That however does not mean they couldn't create something anime-like if they tried.
And imo Elfen Lied is worst example of anime you can ever find and it should've never been made, but thats just me :/

Oh I know what you mean about Elfen Lied, have you seen Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and 5 CM? Even tho' Elfen Lied incorporates fantasy, magic and super powers, it is still realistic to me. The violence is at such an extreme that it's rated 18+, child abuse, tons of nudity. Americans couldn't even air the show on their TVs. I don't know, I'd just rather not talk about their shows and rather not have any English voice acting. They don't try hard enough to be an anime character like the Japanese do.
Havoc10K:
l aggre tha tamericans can easily make an anime, the style for making an anime is not big eyes etc, there is plenty of anime that doesn't have that, however like tatsu says, americans can't afforsd to make a decent anime because of tehir flaw in the law, the least they can do is simple fighting anime with limited ammount of blood. no sex/ no nudity, no badmouthing, basicaly, "Samurai Ninja Cats" or "Sonic" at the best, altough l find it that it's ratehr easy to licence a porno in america ROFL.
Kodomo no Jikan will probably never see it's light there as well, US ppl have narrow minds, they could have Gits cuz it was rather "on topic" when Gits was being done, and Sac came out.
as for Japan not being the only one making Anime, that true, actually half of the best anime series and movies are done in Korea and China :] best example "Sky Blue", even studio Ghibli is using korean hands ;]
but it doesn't matter who actually makes it as long as it is created by the same ppl and the story and quality is what we see most of the time.
