English Dubs

Mag-X:
lol. At least it was entertaining. Many english dubs just hurt my brain.

Onibokusu:
Yeah, I actually saw this when it aired. First the Folley Stage, then Bang Zoom. Conan did great at both (eg. "UGH GONNA THROW A BABY!!")

Is it, perhaps, because English is not your mother tongue? I don't want to bring out the usual English Dubs Defence, but unless you speak Japanese, you can't talk about the quality of the Japanese dub. More or less, this isn't the early 90's, most dubs are of great quality (unless it's a video game).

Havoc10K:
not this topic again, english is not my mother language but l like it a lot, however, l just can't stand english dubs in anime, gives me the creeps and shivers down my spine, it's close to teh state that l might recive a trauma if l listen to it for a longer period of time, the list of the only dubs that actually did work out are :

Ghost in the Shell/Innocence/SAC/SAC 2nd GIG/SSS
Vampire Hunter "D"/Bloodlust

nothing else l heard in eng dub is at all pleasing, who the fuck gets the voiceing ppl to do it ? a retard with no hearing ? when you get a voiceover you should at least pay attention to get someone whose voice is CLOSE to the original wave, take Slayers for example, Lina Jap Dub and Eng Dub are WTF completely different ppl, whenever l hear english dub l'm near death (where is my limit break ?)

And the English voice is never, and I mean NEVER, going to sound right with the original voice of most of the characters. More so voice acting is no easy job to do. When the voice actor for Konata in the English dub of Lucky Star (Wendee Lee) gave her a real nasally voice, I actually applauded. It was perfect and actually what someone with a lifestyle like hers might sound like in reality.

keep in mind Japanese ppl treat voice acting extremely seriously, USand most other nations ppl don't treat anime industries very seriously, is why Japan is making huge money buckets off it ;] wich l am glad, l just wish the shipped their stuff worldwide, but l was please with GITS voice acting in english dubs, it was satisfactory, probably because they had no choice but to do a serious job, tough what thoey showed in that vidoe was quite funny, "shoot teh fish!"
