Media Player Classic HC and games
« on: July 29, 2009, 11:25:00 AM »
I usually play a game, pause and tab out for some reason. When I do MPC HC has crashed. It doesn't effect all games, 2 out of the 13 I have installed works. I was curious if there was some setting I could change to save it from the others as well.

My googling skills failed me in a quick check so thought to ask. Too many unrelated search hits. ^^

memtest?

That's all I can think of that would cause that sort of thing.

Why are you wasting system resources with MPC while gaming?

I'm not really sure but that also occurs to me when the DirectShow video output is set to something other than overlay mixer. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the other options load the video to memory? If you're playing memory intensive games, memory allocated to MPC gets swapped out.

I am not playing intense games when I leave it on, for those I might turn it off (crashes in new and old games alike). Easy things that came out years ago, uses akin to 20% of my resources, no reason to shut things down.

I will try your suggestion next time I start a game I have problems with Lupin.

Edit: That solved it, now I can keep it up in the background along with everything else. (Currently 10 things up and a few in tray. ^^)

I used to play Freelancer with Linkin Park in the background. Was quite a nice combination :)
