Perhaps most of you are ill informed, but McDonalds has higher standards and better food quality than most high class restaurants these days. In the past they were horrid, and it's not like their food is healthy for you, but really unless you stay home and eat a raw salad without salad dressing than you're not eating as healthy as you think anyways. If you want terrible quality food, go to Taco Bell. Most countries won't even allow them to establish there because their meat is grade 'K' which means it uses the bad pieces of meat that even restaurants with bad meat quality don't want.

Oh please, don't tell me that junkfood there is in any way better then in any restaurant. From my own experience I know that a burger from McDonalds lasts for fifteen minutes, after that you are even more hungry. It can't be compared to getting half a duck served with fried mushrooms, tzatziki and white wine.

You just gave me impression that restaurants in USA are mostly as shitty as fast food chains. Because I have not associated a word "restaurant" with anything other then expensive high quality meal.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

I hate Mcdicks for that kind of thing. Running out is understandable. But when you show up in drive through at 10:30 and they close at 11pm; and have already cleaned the milkshake machine, and therefore say that they've "run out" is the most annoying thing in the world!

It makes me so mad I just want to yell in run-on sentences! Or... go back to what i was doing that caused me to crave the milkshake in the first place  :D

Yeah I retract my whole statement about Taco Bell's meat quality. my source was nothing more than my Japanese teacher complaining about it. Here's a real source: http://www.snopes.com/food/prepare/badmeat.asp
Meat isn't even graded with letters so it would be impossible for Taco Bell to have grade D F K etc. Just be happy that McDonalds is one of the very few food establishments that uses 100% beef and 100% white meat chicken.

I guess I just posted that link for nothing if you aren't going to read it. The link specifically states that grading from the USDA is OPTIONAL and it is NOT A LETTER GRADE.

Quote
If a meat producer wishes, he can have his products graded by a USDA grader, who will assign it to one of eight categories: Prime, Choice, Select, Standard, Commercial, Utility, Cutter, and Canner. According to the USDA:

USDA Prime, Choice, Select, and Standard grades come from younger beef. The highest grade, USDA Prime, is used mostly by hotels and restaurants, but a small amount is sold at retail markets. The grade most widely sold is USDA Choice.

Standard and Commercial grade beef frequently is sold as ungraded or as "brand name" meat.

The three lower grades - USDA Utility, Cutter, and Canner are seldom, if ever, sold in stores but are used instead to make ground beef and other meat items such as frankfurters.

This grading process is optional, however, and even meat assigned to the lowest grades is perfectly edible.
Your fast food chains are probably using those last three grades and 'forming' the random cuts of shredded meat into patties and cuts. Still, it's no better or worse quality than what you are getting from buying a hotdog from the store (except maybe Hebrew National).

The letter grading system is poultry only. Since we were talking about Taco Bell's meat quality it can be assumed that it meant beef (Do they even use chicken?) it doesn't apply that they would be using letter graded meat. Even further still is the fact that I said it was grade K, you said it was Grade F, poultry grades are A, B, and C only. I'm pointing out that I was wrong in the statement I made earlier, and I'm attempting to provide proof that fast food meat quality is no worse than what you are buying in the stores (which I think the USDA site concludes here).

So true. but the ice cream is good, and less expensive than going to a Coldstone's for example or a Baskin Robin's.

Lame.. they should have stocked up.

I had a McFlurry last week, it was a last choice since the better places in town were all closed by that time of night.  I'd rather have a blizzard but when it's late and hot and I want ice cream a McFlurry will suffice.

McDonald's pies are somewhat decent for a quick grab.

Just be happy that McDonalds is one of the very few food establishments that uses 100% beef and 100% white meat chicken.

.... and then adds more preservation ingredients then fingers on my hand. The result is that you are eating your 100% meat which will not decay even after 15 years. I guess all the shit that makes meat uninhabitable to living organisms such as bacteria is good for you  ::)

Damn, there is this mongolian restaurant downtown, after talking about junk food vs restaurants, I want to go eat there tomorrow. I mean you pick whatever ingredients you want (buffet) and then the guy takes the plate and fries all meat for you...... on whine, not deep fry fat. And the price is about the same as the 200g burger.

Oh I just realized that in Norway McDonalds are probably more expensive because they actually have to pay their employers somewhat reasonable wages. So unlike USA, where junk food is the only diet option for the poor, it isn't all that attractive here.

This whole thread makes me kinda sick to my stomach.  Bleh.

It also makes me never want to eat fast food again... which sadly was a large part of my diet, since I live in a very small college town and we have NOTHING ELSE.

*sob*  so hungry...

Cook your food? If you choose smart dishes it takes ~5 mins of effort and probably around 20-30 minutes elapsed to get it done. (At least that was my average over the summer.)
