Why such short fight scenes?

Humanoidz:
I don't get it.  Why are fight scenes given up in favor of more stupid dialogue?  Like One Piece for example, I love the show but the fight scenes are too darn short.  It cannot believe its more expensive to animate and sound a fight scene than it is to do more dialogue, or does it really take a hell of a lot longer to animate a fight than it is to plug in dialogue from the recording booth?.  Still, ITS ANIMATION, not a live action, action movie that costs loads of time and money to setup a proper fight scene.  Less talk, more fight, damn it!  >:(

relic2279:
Guess you haven't seen Dragonball Z, Naruto or Bleach.

Duki3003:
I don't think it's a matter of cost, I think it's more a matter of it's easier to draw them standing and yapping...

LiquidZero:
cheah i agree with the poster up top ^

its much much easier to draw a long intricate conversation

then a short actiony fight scene.

this is why fighting games never had movies that did them justice, not ENOUGH fights or fights are WAY TOO SHORT.

Takeshi:
Well, for One Piece, have you read the manga? You know, the anime follows the manga unless of course it's filler time, so they aren't doing it on purpose to do minimize the cost. Naruto for example, a fight was actually extended around episode 96:

(click to show/hide)The Sannin Clash, it ended much sooner in the manga, but in the anime Tsunade bashed Oro around much more, and that was actually nice to see them improvising a little.
So, yeah, go watch what relic2279 said.

I'm glad One Piece isn't all about fighting, I'm currently watching just everything, and while the action is something that belongs in the anime, I'm all about the comedy.
