Why such short fight scenes?

(click to show/hide)Like that fight between Sarutobi and Orochimaru, in which it took 10 episodes for Sarutobi to die?

Thinking about that takes me back to the DBZ fights. What was the longest fight sequence that took place during that series?

They were all long. XD
But if I were to mention one, then maybe Frieza vs. Goku, Goku vs. Vegeta.

Yeah after I thought about it the Frieza vs. Goku fight came to mind.

You might also add the fact of following minor characters doing almost nothing important. In some cases, they do help the hero, but only by doing minor things suitable for a minor character.
Lupin:
I think of high speed motion sequences when you speak of fight scenes. You need need to render more frames to animate these sequences. Short fight scenes = less animation needed = less work = lower cost.

Like One Piece for example, I love the show but the fight scenes are too darn short. It cannot believe its more expensive to animate and sound a fight scene than it is to do more dialogue, or does it really take a hell of a lot longer to animate a fight than it is to plug in dialogue from the recording booth?. Still, ITS ANIMATION, not a live action, action movie that costs loads of time and money to setup a proper fight scene. Less talk, more fight, damn it! >:(

stupid dialogue? i love the dialogue in One Piece - if i want brainless action il goo watch Goku charge his spirit bomb for 10 episodes

In a space battle spanning hours something akin to 90% is spent manouvering and at most 10% firing since things go down so quickly in most universes. In most cases it just becomes cheesy when you have long combat since one or two hits is enough to win.

You know how much I would kill for more decent shows examining the strategic level of combat? Good writing can go a long way in making such stuff interesting, especially if your space universe of choice has very limited abilities for a space fleet with regards to sensors and the ilk ..

Don't get me wrong, I love One Piece comedy but if all these characters are also built to fight with unique styles, I want to see it. I've seen DBZ but not in ten years. I won't touch Naruto, don't care about Bleach.
I just hate when they build up a fight that should be epic, and then it ends in seconds............ ..... Is the One Piece manga longer on the fights?
Just because its easier to animate is a poor excuse, imo. I've seen others with great fights that left me satisfied like Cowboy Bebop, Berserk, Trigun, Yu Yu Hakusho, but why a show that is as big as One Piece slacking on the good fights?
I think I'm complaining because I want One Piece to be perfect.
